Which xps did you order the M1210 or the M1710?

I almost bought one of those last year but decided it was overkill and a waste of money for the overall purposes I would use it for. I ended up getting an Inspiron 6400 and loaded a lot of things the XPS has. Ended up with a far cheaper price tag but don't have the XPS service which I hear is awesome. The cool XPS casing would have been nice though haha. Either way I love my dell laptop and I'm sure that thing will be just as good and prolly better.

I hought a XPS for my girlfriend as a X'mas gift last year (05 X'mas). All I can say I am glad that I got the Next day onsite Warranty on that. Pretty much every thing on the Lap top has been replaced the only two thing they didn't replace was LCD screen and the Hard Drive.
My self and my GF both work in IT. All the machines I have at home plus in the office are Dell. I love Dells. But the XPS is a differnt story. For the money what you are paying I didn't expect this much of trouble from them.

See thats odd to hear that. Everything I read praises the XPS systems. How there soo much better than their normal counterparts and service and blah blah blah. Now I'm really glad I didn't get one. That would have made me use that thing as a coaster or a frisbee haha.

I got the M2010. So far it's been a kick-ass system. Make sure to get the higher RPM hard drive (7200rpm) if you can, I think it makes a good amount of difference. Laptop hard drives are often a point of bottleneck.

I'd have asked this BEFORE I ordered.

You mean the M2010?? . My collegue wants to buy one, but I think it's way overpriced and OTT.

I have the M1210 for about a month and i returned it. I'll elaborate why i returned it alittle later when i have time but i must say that XPS service was great! I have dell desktops at home and i never had problems but like G-mach1 said, the XPS is a different case.

O well, returned the XPS and got my Macbook pro. MAC FTW!

The M2010 is so freaking big and bulky they should re-classify it as Hyrid Desktop instead...well unless you're build like Andre the giant then it might fit on your laps..

Hah yup, it can't be used as a traditional laptop at all, but it fits my needs perfectly. I prefer to work on a 20"+ monitor, but don't want a desktop because I don't like how a monitor looks in my apartment (this allows me to fold it up) and also want the ability to move my computer around; so this is perfect for me. But I'd have to say that it's probably not very practical for most (given the price as well).

E1505 for me. I got it about three months ago. Don't know how I lived without it. This is my third Dell and I just ordered a new desktop today. I can't get enough of them. My family has had Gateways that didn't last and always had problems. Good luck with yours. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
