A Perfect Gentleman

I was always told that my Grandpa was the perfect gentleman, so I was rather confused when I came upon this photo while going through our family album:

So I asked my Dad:
"What kind of a 'perfect gentleman' was Grandpa, if he sat and Grandma stood?"

My Dad answered quietly:
"This photo was taken on the morning after the wedding night. He couldn't stand and she couldn't sit..."
