Did Aurba and the Virgin Islands before.

We arent looking for anything fancy, just looking to have a good time, unwind, and enjoy ourselves.

A plus would be if it wasnt a "Family Resort", it sucks waking up with a hang over and the only thing you want to do is relax and nap by the pool and you have a million kids around you yelling and screaming.

How am I not surprised that you didnt like it, yet everyone I've ever spoke to about that place loved it? I guess we "uncivilized" people have some work to do.

If you didnt like the food, maybe you should take Burger king with you next time.

I think it had to do with the water. Everyone I went there with was sick for like a week afterwards. And uncivilized wasn't the right word to describe it, modern would have been better. I stayed at what was apparently the best hotel but it really wasn't that great. Mainly had to do with the food.

go to Punta Cana, but DO NOT stay in the Punta Cana resort & club. WORST hotel i have EVER stayed in!

You probably went to a POS resort. Best place in DR is Casa De Campo do your research and dont end up staying at a shitty place again unless you dont have $$$ and being cheap is your thing.

It's HUGE, but not cheap. I'd NEVER go back to the DR though.

No not really the resort will take you. You could always rent one which is what I suggest if you want to move around and do other activities like playing Polo or the shooting range.

I stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro 18 months ago. It is a large three hotel complex (the Iberostar Punta Cana and Dominica are the other two). If you stay at the Bavaro, you get free rein over the whole place. It is an AI - everything is included food and drink wise.

We booked at the time through Expedia - We payed about $900pp for the week including flight from Baltimore. It was awesome. We are big partyers and free booze is the way to go! We probably did close to $75 per day (US prices) in booze and $100 per day in meals. The beer is some local swill so we mostly did mixed drinks and Margaritas.

The night life is pretty good - we're in our 40s but still hit the disco which was full of all ages but mostly 20 somethings. The resort attracts not just US vacationers but Brits, Germans, French and Canadians.

The resort is paradise. Bavaro (the area) is home to a ton of AI resorts - all are pretty good from reading Trip Advisor. I would definitely do the Iberostar again.
