The dealership wouldn't have given him the same courtesy if he had accidentally bid 57k instead of 27k. They deserve to eat it.

+1. I have sold things before and ended up breaking it while packaging it. Then I told ebay about the issue and they helped me close the auction even after the buyer paid.
