I've also noticed that the morning after getting drunk off scotch, my stomach is flatter. I guess it dehydrates the fuck outta me and gets rid of water weight. |

Made a commitment a couple days ago to have a 6 pack by April, so I'll be doing all I can to lose my own belly fat. I'm getting close to having a flat stomach (at least comparitively).
Have been working out 4-5 days a week for 50-90 minutes each work out. Took a step to fix my diet 6 months ago, now trying to take it a step further. Am beginning to try the smaller, more frequent meals as so many have suggested. Currently eating a gross Odwalla Super Protein Bar w raisins... blah. Trying to also break my absolute worst habit, eating late. Read in my Mens Health that those who consume 15% or more of their daily calorie intake after 10pm average 13.4 lbs gained over 3 years... that must change. Also, beer consumption is being reduced to two beers per week, maximum. Dang!

I work until 5:30pm most days and hit the gym at 6pm. I'm not home until 7:30p and then need to consume a protein drink and eat dinner so if I'm cooking at home it's not ready until 8pm or later, hence my problem eating an after-dinner snack after 10pm.

Aerobic exercise will facilitate fat loss all over your body, including your belly.

It will actually increase it because of the resulting cortisol response and since receptor sites for cortisol are around the umbilicus you increase chances of stored belly fat. Cortisol signals fat storage and is muscle wasting.

+ 100 . the beer belly is a myth. beer is not empty calories either
it is rich in B vitamins, some other vits, a bit of protein, high in antioxidants and all natural. but working on your 6 pack abs doesnt allow killing a 6 pack. just enjoy a couple in the afternoon if you deserve it. dont pound brews all night. |

Being dehydrated leads to increased belly fat. You're probably having a placebo effect.

What really changed my body is joining a gym and getting involved in group fitness classes. They really give you a good workout and put fun into it. Don't let the over abundance of female attendance shy you away. Some of the group classes that may be easy for girls are hard for guys, thus making you work harder.
I've been doing Les Mills group fitness programs for over a year already. I mainly do Bodypump and have recently got into Bodystep. It's amazing how these classes have transformed my quad's, calves, arms, etc.. I also recently started doing Bikram yoga. You sweat your balls off and really get your heart beating for that 90 minutes of poses. Great people watching too...
