Not sure about NY but in MD you can appear in court. Usually if you you have a relatively clean record, you will get a slightly reduced fine and probation before judgement. No points.
Plus you get to sit in the back of the court and listen to all the excuses other people think up to get off their 125 in a 55 There is also the possibility (and it has happened to me) that the cop will not show up. If that happens, you can plead not guilty and get off.

Show up at court, plead innocent, and the DA or judge will offer you a plea bargain. Since it is your first, you can probably have it reduced to a non-moving violation or so. It's always worth it to try to go to court. Dress nice. Act respectfully and apologetically. Your charge can't get worse. It can only get better or stay the same. Good luck, and drive safe.

IIRC, the brackets for NYS were 1-9 over, 10-19 over, etc, correct. Hopefully you can at least get it knocked down to a 39 in a 30 and get the lower penalty. Also, if this does stay a moving violation and you get points, NYS has a one day driving class to get rid of the points and lower your insurance. You take it on an afternoon, it's not bad at all... Just throwing some stuff out there for you, good luck..

shame on you for speeding...j/k
look in the back of the tickets, it might list out the fine based on how many miles you are over the speed limit. You went 15 miles over speed limit so my rough estimate is between $100 - $150 fines.

I'm ashamed to say that my last ticket (a 39 in a 30) was by radar with my X50 screaming at me. I was putzing with a cup of coffee and listening to the radio and tuned it out. No points

from my experience in NY tickets, plead not guilty and send the ticket in...wait for a trail date letter.
Then wait til like 2-3 weeks before the trail, call or send a letter in saying you can't make it on that day. Wait for another letter...show up at the court about 10 mins before the start of the time printed in the letter...the cop will come to you and try to neogiate... ie for like 10 over, they'll give you a deal of "disobeying a traffice device" and between $50-100 plus court fees, no points. They don't want to stand trail for tickets, it wastes their time and the court's time. Like 80% of the time they will reduce it to no points and pay the fine. The state just wants the $$$ and don't want to drag it out any longer which delays everything from scheduling to paperwork. But it's your job to delay it to reap the benefits Once in a while I would show up at a court and the cop isn't there but there's a prosecutor in place of the cop. They try to make a deal with you but don't fall in for this. You say you want a trail and be firm about it...then ask him where's the cop? The next thing they're gonna do is try to reschedule for the trail...you say "i thought this was supposed to be a trail as stated on this trail date letter?", the next thing they're going to do is spew out bull$hit...tell them you want this ticket dismissed because you don't have time to show up for the next one and you "took your day off work" to show up for this one. Dumb people fall in for this one and end up making a deal which they could have gotten out of by doing this way. I've been doing it this way ever since I started driving and i had # of tickets in the double digits counts...all of them I pleaded not guilty to! One of them was for 84 in 35 by the clinton's new house in NY! got that down to 40 in 30! was testing out the new Blistiens HD shocks and 1LE springs in my '99 Z28 with chrome ZO6 wheels mounted on 275/40/17 Goodyear F1 tires on that night Oh yeah I have 2 more trails pending...FROM 5 YEARS AGO!!! One for no front plate...(yes I drove my '99 Z28 with no front plate since I picked it up) and I'm just messing around with this asshole state pooper Another one is for 77 in 55 by a "cowboy" state pooper! 5 years later I got a trail note and delayed it! now it's back to the bottom of the pile i call this one a cowboy because he standed like he was hostling 2 guns...he must have been high! I tend to see a pattern here, the courts try to arrange all the tickets for this cop who wrote them out to be processed on that day. Try asking for a day like friday or pick a calender # on the weekend...and call in saying u can only do that day...I know a few done this way but it's a rare thing to suceed with this one. One cop wrote a ticket to my dad to show up on a weekend! He showed up and no one was in the courtroom...then he wrote a letter the next day to the court saying he showed up and no one was there...and complained that it was a waste of his time to show up again for a minor mistake on their part. A week later they responded saying they have dismissed the ticket. Average wait time for a trail date in Westchester county: 1-2 years Disclaimer: all this above is my experience, not legal advice.

15% tint? I have 10% on my '99 Z28 and it haven't gotten a ticket for it.
Why? The rear window isn't tinted! Most of the time the cops looks from the back and they don't notice it already.

well he told me and i quote "you can spray paint your back window black for all I care, you cannot have anything that doesnt let 70% through... whatever i mean with black interior and a very dark road id be iffy if i was a cop and pulled over a car heavily tinted. The fact of the matter is, if i wasnt speeding i probably would not have been fined for tints... but like any other dbag cop out there i got nailed because i was doing something bad (speeding)
