Nm to lbs torque question

So... I just destroyed an aluminum valve. The instructions says torque to 4Nm. Converting to lbs of torque I got something like 35-36 lbs. Is my logic wrong somewhere, but is 4Nm = 35-36 lbs of torque? Peer check por favor.

GP is correct. Your conversion was in inch pounds not ft/lbs.
