+1 on the 911. They are an evolution of the car, not revolutions that other car makers do with major overhauls. Put a pic of a new 911 next to an original from the 60s and you can easily see the relation (same with the new mustangs I suppose). Put a new 3 next to an original one and it would have just about no resemblance other than the badge. Not saying one is better than the other, but when it comes to icon, 911 is much more chronological than other big names.

corvette vs mustang argument could go on for ages really the 3 series doesnt hold a candle to them as far as icon status goes. Not even close.
