Riding Camcorder, Want Tips/Tricks
So I have a Canon HF M30 camcorder. Not a bad little guy, but now I have the urge to film footage of driving. I picked up one of those CruiseCam headrest mounting arms, however the vibration of it is just unbearable when viewing the footage at full resolution. I have a new tripod head on order that I'll be attaching to the arm to help with stability but I'm sure I'll need more of a solution.
So now I am in search of a more rigid rig setup inside the car to pick up footage with. This will be used in both track and normal road conditions. Versatility is a plus, I don't wish to install a full roll-cage just to get a stable shot with the camcorder (though I'm sure that would be the best mounting solution). I've tossed around an idea of getting a Carbon Fiber constructed brace arm custom fabricated. I'd also like for it to be fairly discrete though. But the most important of all of these conditions is that the rig be rigid and stable. I also understand that my camera has issue with rolling shutter effects. But it seems it can be lessened some in post. So I'll cross that bridge when I get there. For now, I'd just like a stable shot.

You want one of these

I'll take a picture of what I ended up getting. I kind of took the best from a few different sources.
The Camera I ended up with was the Sony CX150. Not the highest end camera, but alot of the high end camera's with CMOS had horrible stability issues on such a rough ride. For whatever reason the CX150 is able to filter out most of the shake, while still filming in full 1920 x 1080. Even though the CX150 doesn't really have a image stabilization system. No OIS or DIS, just a steadyshot system.
