Best place to get a used lens
Heres the situation.
I need a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Canon by Sept 8th. As of right now I have NO cash available. This mean, I'm going to liquidate my posessions (xbox, dci, ps3, unused lenses) to raise cash So they have one on Adorama for 1300 new. But I don't think ill be able to make that much cash. And I can't get a job until I can be referred in november. So I need to find a used one somewhere in okay condition. Wheres the best place? the less $$$$$$ the better

I have had good luck with CALUMET, and eBay. Especially if you don't have to have the new 2.8 II lens. Good luck!

Do you just need it for a trip? You could rent one if cash is really tight. www.borrowlenses.com has that lens for $35/day and $140 for 4 weeks. http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/...00mm_f2.8L_USM
If you want to buy used, you can try Adorama, B&H and www.keh.com. KEH says they have a few from New to Bargain: http://www.keh.com/camera/Canon-EOS-...990071110?r=FE

You should monitor the LA, OC and SD Craigslists. There's enough used gear traffic that you ought to find one in the next month. That will likely give you the best price and, since it's local, the chance to try before you buy.
A more expensive, but more reliable, route is to use one of the "premium" online used gear forums like Buy and Sell on fredmiranda.com or Marketplace on photography-on-the.net . Both of these have an international audience of gear heads and you can almost be guaranteed to find a 70-200 there during your required time window. The thing is that the folks posting gear there are connoisseurs and charge like it (typically around 85-90% of retail for an L lens). If you hunt you can often do better on price on the local CL's, but you have to have the time and willingness to walk away when the deal isn't right. |

Keh.com has the best selection of the best quality gear. A bargain lens on Keh is often an "excellent" lens everywhere else and if it says excellent on Keh you can be sure it will be nearly impossible to tell from new.

A lot of Sigmas are fine lenses. Just be careful to check autofocus on your camera body before you buy. Some of the older Sigmas have compatibility issues with current bodies and may need to be "re-chipped" by Sigma to function properly.

I had a good experience buying from www.usedcameras.com Both lenses I ordered were in just the shape they were said to be. Shipping was good and quick. Prices seemed reasonable for a resale place.
