BMW Teen Driving School
Hey guys,
I was just invited to attend the BMW teen driving school, just wanted your opinions on if you've done it or had a friend do it, if it was fun or worth it. I'm still not sure if I would like to go to this thing or not

I was an instructor at the last one we had in the New Orleans area.
We set up a few exercises: slalom, lane change, skid pad, and a braking area and rotated between them throughout the day. There was some classroom stuff as well (short video, I believe). It rained all day for us, which made things "interestion". It seemed like the students were much more confident by the end of the day and had a much better idea of their car's limits. I had a blast (except for the motion sickness) and didn't drive a car all day. Seems like most of the kids had a great time as well. Crazy thing I learned: Almost every student did not know how to brake properly in a panic situation . . . I thought "slam foot to the floor" was a simple concept. I'd certainly do it. Definitely not a waste of time. Last edited by bluesunit; 09-04-2010 at 08:48 AM.. |

def. def. worth it, did them every year as a teenager until I was too old to attend and now help work them. A lot of fun and you will be suprised at what you will learn. You find the limits of your vehicle and how to control it in an emergency situation. And plus you have an m roadstrer which I'm pretty sure has an LSD so how can you pass up doing donuts on a skid pad?!

I did one of these in June 2005 when the e90 first launched. I was 16 at the time. It was soo much fun. It made me much more confident driving a car.
Also where else can you abuse BMWs as a teenager? I remember the instructor asking "What is N.Y.C?" and the correct response was "Not Your Car!" |
