Riddles.

Post how many you got right, and be truthful.

1. How could the 22nd and 24th U.S. Presidents have the same parents, but weren't brothers?

2. How can you use the letters in NEW DOOR to make one word?

3. Railroad crossing, look out for the cars. Can you spell that without any Rs?

4. How could all of your cousins have an aunt who is not your aunt?

5. Johnny's mother had four children. The first was April, the second was May, and the third was June. What was the name of her fourth child?

6. Imagine you are in a sinking rowboat surrounded by sharks. How would you survive?

7. There was an airplane crash, every single person died, but two people survived. How is this possible?

8. That attorney is my brother, testified the accountant. But the attorney testified he didn't have a brother. Who is lying?

9. What came first, the chicken or the egg?

10. How far can you walk into the woods?

Answers below:

1. Grover Cleveland was elected twice to be the 22nd and 24th U.S. president.

2. ONE WORD.

3. T-H-A-T.

4. She's your mother.

5. Johnny.

6. Quit imagining.

7. They were married.

8. Neither. The accountant was his sister.

9. Dinosaurs laid eggs long before there were chickens.

10. Halfway. After that, you're walking out of the woods.

Number 1 is misleading because the subject and wording is pluralized. I answered that one under protest.

For number 4 - she's your mom is the simple answer, but couldn't it also be their aunt from the side of the family that isn't in your bloodline? For example, your mom has one sister. Your aunt's husband's sister would be your cousins' aunt but wouldn't be a relation to you, would she?

For #6 another possibility is if you are a lawyer. Sharks will not eat lawyers because of professional courtesy.

Negative, by the standards of english, that is the correct way to word it, given an unknown subject.

I vaguely recalled hearing both of them before but not 100% sure. I didn't get them though.

At the risk of being somewhat pedantic, the question as posed in riddle #1 is grammatically incorrect, but not for the reason previously objected to.

Two men are in a department when they see a deal on socks. The store only carries one brand of socks, but pairs are available in ten different colors (red, blue, green, yellow, black, blown, tan, white, grey, and orange). The store has a sale that specifies that if you buy one pair of each color, you get each pair half off. The two men each decide this is a good deal, and pull one pair of each color off of the metal bars on which the plastic hooks that keep the socks paired together are hung and procede to the checkout counter. Both men wear the same size socks, and it's fortunate they came when they did, because they completely depleted the stores inventory. Anyhow, the clerk rings them up, one man first, then the other. The clerk places ten pairs of socks, each of a different color, in a shopping bag for each man with each pair of socks still clipped together, along with a receipt in each mans respective shopping bag in turn. After the clerk rings them up, and as the men are leaving, the lights in the store go out. The two men crash into each other and the twenty pairs of socks they both purchased spill into one big pile on the floor. Despite the fact that it is pitch black, and nobody had any source of light whatsoever, each man walked out of the store with ten different colored pairs of socks (red, blue, green, yellow, black, blown, tan, white, grey, and orange), in other words, exactly what they purchased. How did they do it?

Since both socks in a pair are connected by a plastic hook, the men pick up one pair and give each person one sock. They repeat this for all 20 pairs. In the end each man will have two of each color.
