I would describe the car as a template both for technology and design.

The car being presented in Geneva is a pure concept car , the design is far too extreme for the mainstream. To reach production it would have to go through a lot of changes. I would not be surprised if there is past Bangle feelings revisited because it proves that he has left a legacy within BMW design for breaking from the norm and upping the design ante.

BMW over the past couple of years have been commenting much on how we will use our cars in the future and how much our cars will in effect become part of us in the way we use technology such as social media , internet access etc within our cars and how interaction will adapt the car to your personal driving style .

This Concept embodies the future of technology within the future of design. You wont see something exactly like it but you will recognise certain elements but you will get to experience the technology in the not-so-distant future.
The design for the Z2 is already set in stone , the larger Roadster is not completely final yet. Unfortunately these take time and the BMW Design studios from across the globe are in the competition.

In Design discussion it is pretty radical , legislation for crash safety would not be approved for some features of this car. Although some ideas and design elements will feel familiar to some. But there is an advance on design language.

The Concept shows that technology can be used not only within the car but outside the car. The Design concept combines ideas for a Roadster that could interpret elements for a future flagship or indeed a micro sports car that could be based on the Front Wheel Drive architecture shared with MINI or if the MegaCity Vehicle for BMWi could spawn something completely radical for that brand.

As for what direction it could take? As I said it could go both directions when refined and progressed and made more street legal, although the designers for this concept are in the Roadster competition.

Scott, Your writing skills are pretty good, but I think you made some typos. You meant to say "Rear" instead of "Front"? Am I correct? And you must have copy/pasted Mini and Megacity into this by mistake as well? Rgiht?

Can't wait for 2/11 to see the RWD based Z2 Coupe

+1 Who the hell wants a FWD roadster? Is BMW wanting to make a FWD Solstice now?

Light, RWD, nice engine = a great car...love the idea of a soft top to save weight...
