A rolling start would see these cars having near identical runs, with the TTRS pulling a slight lead.
Please explain how 5-60 is a street start and 0-60 isn't. Surely it's the other way round, afterall you are at a dead stop at traffic lights and the race starts when the lights turn green. Anyhow just look at what happens after 60mph, the TT-RS simply walks away from the 1M, it's a case of the 1M driver asking his passenger did he see which way it went.

Even a manual TT-RS will walk away from the 1M, the extra 20hp will help it claw back what it would lose to this DSG version and when a manual one can already do the 0-60mph run in 4.2s this extra output should drop this by 0.2s, that would be a full 0.5~0.7s ahead of the 1M.

We can all agree that the 1M is all about chassis dynamics and handling finesse, it's a great car that looks the part and is a welcome addition to the M lineup but when it comes to outright acceleration it's a distant second to the TT-RS with either transmission.

Surely being spoiled for choice is much better than no choice at all. Anyhow model count there is usually a far greater number of M cars on offer at any one time than there is RS cars, so Audi are stating to come round to BMW's way of thinking.

Soon you will have the RS4 Avant and both the RS6 and RS7 as well which will mean a saloon/estate and coupe style option in all price and size brackets. That's a brilliant idea for the customer.

A lot of cars achieve great 0-60 times just because they have some power and good traction. But what happens after 60? I don't care if it can achieve the same 0-60 times as a z06. Put it next to one for more then 3.6 seconds and see what happens.

Agreed,,
Not sure why people get caught up with 0-60 numbers.
800whp supra puts up shitty 0-60 numbers with street tires, but it can annihilate pretty much anything on the street. Not to mention the tremendous whiplash effect when it hooks.

That's what I've been saying. From a roll (any kind of roll), it won't be a completely one-sided race. 0-60 and 1/4 times don't help show that because they car gets a great launch and carries that momentum through the quarter.

I've been trying to find a comparison that's done 60-100 runs. No dice so far.

Take a look at the times achieved by C&D for both cars, after 60mph the TT simply walks away from the 1M, at no point did the BMW hold station against the TT-RS it was an ever increasing gap. Much like the S4 vs the 335i.

I don't necessarily expect the RS3 to do the same thing because it's heavier than the 1M but I think the combination of transmission and stronger engine will be enough to still beat it in acceleration, admittedly with a much smaller gap.
