I'd like to understand how something that can't be earned, is limited and has no central banking system is in any way classified as a currency. It is a commodity / investment and its current growth is based on valuation like a stock... dont see how anyone could argue this?

A stock at least has intrinsic value based on partial ownership of the asset protect by certain laws
The baseless bitcoin can be anonymously stolen and POOF.. its valuation is based solely on supply and demand
no demand.. no value

The thing is, you CAN convert it to currency, just it's going to be taxed.

My friend has profited around 200k from bitcoin, and he takes out small amounts of currency at a time.

Most of the people investing know it's only a matter of time, but until then, you invest and wait till that very moment and you cash out before it happens.

Congrats to your friend but it's not investing, it's called speculation.

I could have made a lot of money off of this. I had mined coins and traded back and forth in the 2012 time frame. Had 100 Bitcoin at one point. I sold when it hit $10 just before 2013. Made maybe $800 profit.

If I still had that 100 Bitcoin

I hope you are kicking yourself....
