I can't even hit the target, just throw the unused bullets at the threat and run away.

I can draw, chamber, and hit a target in 1 second though.

How? You'd have to be the flash, and you don't have that kind of agility anymore.

It wasn't 3 feet. It was yards, but thank you!

How often do you get to the range?

Just recently, every Saturday for the past month (and I'm going to continue to go) I've been before with a friend but it's much different having an instructor shoot with me for 30 minutes -1 hour. I learn much more.

Just picked up a well taken care of remington 1100 magnum for birds primarily but can put cylinder choke to shoot deer if like also.

Why not just use a slug? Probably more accurate no?

I'm not a hunter (but fairly deep in the gun world), but some states have very specific hunting laws regarding what you can use.

Fair enough - never considered that. Up here, I believe they don't care if you use a slug or shot, but you can't use rifles unless you head farther north. But in general, shotguns are ok, due to the lower range of the shot / slug.

That being said, I've just learned that apparently I cannot have more than 3 shells in the shotgun if I'm hunting. I'm not sure if I can argue that I'm not hunting and it is predator defense until I get to my hunting spot...say for a case where you have to walk through woods to get to pond/lake for some ducks.

We'll see...depend on whether I'm going alone or not. If I'm alone, I'll probably load for bear just in case and fight the ticket if I get caught. But if there's at least one other person, then between six legal shells, I don't see any issues.

That being said...I might not even have time to pump more than three anyways...have no idea.

The improved cylinder choke allows slug? Thats what I would use for deer with this platform.

I guess I misinterpreted - sounded like you intended to use buckshot, and I just thought that because of the talk about the choke (which I've always associated with shot / patterns, and having no real bearing on slugs...unless you use too tight a choke). My bad.

Barrel is threaded so needs to have choke threaded in for use to avoid damage even if it's a cylinder choke(no constriction) to shoot slugs.

Thought I would share my favorite rifle with the group. Steyr Model M with Zeiss Victory and Steyr matched detachable mounts. This gun has been modified by a Steyr master gunsmith and fitted with a luxus set trigger. It is an unbelievable tac driver and by far my favorite. I have owned it over 20 years and have lost track on the number of deer it has harvested. Have a good night!

There is nothing like a hammer forged barrel.

I bot a HK VP9SK...best pistol I've ever fired. I took my Springfield XDS to the range along with my HK...couldn't hit shit with it. Might as well have thrown the gun at the target.
Busted out the HK...like I was a fkn hero. $$$ well spent. Too bad it's collecting dust in the glovebox of my other car.
