Garage List
2018 BMW M550i  [10.00]
This car comes as a huge shock to me. Although electric batteries are only getting better, they will all become obsolete in a matter of time.

I look at the McLaren p1. The electric system now is outdated and basically pointless 10 years later.

You look at all the old m5s, they still have a timeless design and the engines are a statement. The m5s of all previous generations will be collectible in the future and I just don’t see that being the case with this car

This to me seems like bmw is trying to sell to someone who has no idea what a m5 is, yet keeping the v8 is something that only the BMW M fanbase will understand. It’s basically a contradiction.

This car could’ve been something great, even a updated look and very minimal performance would’ve been enough for this car to sell and be exciting. Most people who get into these enjoy the tuning aspect and modifications. BMW knows who they sell to and they completely missed the mark.

I like how it looks

I’m sorry for the people who always say sedans are better than SUVs because of physics/weight. What will they say now!!??!! This weighs nearly the same as an X7 and more than an X5….so this sedan is really just a slightly shorter SUV at this point.

On top of the tires, having both an engine and battery/ motor to worry about.

I’ve owned both a BMW plugin and the mini plugin hybrid before. Unfortunately they were always in and out of service due to different glitches… (fuel door refusing to open/ prime/ on and off check engine lights/ car refuse to charge… to named a few)
And many BMW XM owners seemed to complain about similar things still, and you’d thought they improved them!

it’s probably best to dump it after warranty expires.

Here’s what I don’t get: it has a higher power to weight ratio than the Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid but the 0-60 time is slower.

Panamera: 670hp, 5300lb, 3.0s 0-60
M5: 717hp, 5390hp, 3.4s 0-60

That’s 124hp per 1000lb for the Porsche and 133hp per 1000lb for the BMW…

I get the fact that there are global emissions standards at play but why in the holy hell is an electric motor and battery that equates to 170hp and 45 miles of range equal out to an additional 1,000lbs of weight??

Sure but either way it’s hard to understand why BMW would have set it up for an unfavorable 0-60.

You got 5400 lbs to move! Considering the weight it’s very good and plenty fast. Need to think about stoping then also lol

We need to learn about drivetrain details obviously but that weight is not good anywhere

Look at the sidewall on the front tire, it's massive. That tire was designed for a truck not a sports sedan.. It has to be given that weight. If you've never track driven you'll never understand the concept of additional 1000lbs. This is horrific in every conceivable way.

The power to weight ratio is less than the current gen G90 M5. So I'm afraid that was the last of the potent strictly ICE machines will see. The new generation M5 is okay, but BMW seems to be successful in making mots of the new model less sexy then ever before. At least this one didn't get the polarizing G80 front grill. Thank goodness.

This will be perfect for my next company car, low emissions, 45miles on battery means free commuting to and from the office, and local visits. And low company car tax.

Sure it will be heavy, but still great to drive, not a track weapon like the G80, but I'm getting old for fast laps.

What else would you get, if you wanted a luxury fast car. Merc with small engine no V8 , Audi that's actually a VW or Skoda, Tesla

With the price close the the i5m50 I would choose this.

Did an OEM+ mockup of the front. New kidney grills, CSL front splitter, CSL wheels in silver, lowered, spacers.
Just for fun, don't take it too seriously

Hello everyone, can anyone suggest the original parameters of the wheels. I found the following data here front: 285/40 ZR20 111Y XL 10.5J x 20, rear: 295/35 ZR21 110Y XL 11.0J x 21, but I can't find information on offset.
