For sure the image quality was not great on the latest version, so I tweaked it and I saw an improvement on my test images

I found an issue (glitch) while using the App on my iPhone 8 (yeah I know it's old).. I'm including some screen shots to try and explain what happens.

Issue:
When trying to type a post the screen area dedicated to text is limited by the App text formatting header and the iPhone keyboard. If one tries to write more text than can fit into the text write field then one gets locked into the writing field because one can not scroll down 'below or behind the keyboard. The scrolling function needs more than the space available or the cursor simply bounces back up above the keyboard. In other words, the scrolling feature only works above the keyboard and below the text header i.e. it isn't possible to see any text that has been written 'behind or below' the iPhone keyboard field. See images below.

apptest Here’s a strange one for ya. The iOS BIMMERPOST app shows a very long gray area below the post linked below. I’ve scrolled for a very looooong time and never found the end of the gray region. I think it was scrolling the whole time though, because it took just as long to scroll back up out of the gray region to the post.

Just to confirm, are you on the latest version of the app? 5.5.4?

I’m using it on an iPhone 8 right now and I can scroll this editor screen freely, meaning when the keyboard is covering my reply text, I can just scroll/swipe it up so that I can see the bottom of what I typed. Are you able to swipe it the text up so you can see the part of the text that is covered by a keyboard?

ANd also want to confirm you are using 5.5.4, there was a much earlier version where scrolling was a problem, I think 5.2 or 5.3

I’m on 5.5.4 (iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16.3) and I clicked on the thread to check what he was talking about and had the same issue.

You mean the endless grey area or not being able to scroll the post editor? (Endless grey area issue is confirmed bug and fixed)

apptest Ironically I tried replying to your post with your questions above being quoted, but the amount of text was too large a paragraph and I got trapped in the reply field and unable to scroll below the last few lines of your and mine quoted text. The text field header and text field reply block bump into the top of the screen if trying to scroll up and the field bumps into the keyboard when trying to scroll down. Like now I’m wwriting blind and can’t see what I’m typing.

Ok that’s an old version, can you try upgrading to 5.5.4 and see if it’s still happening?

Okay, I just updated to the latest version and am quoting your and my text above. The cursor now appears in the correct spot. I’ll copy and paste this text and see if I get locked into the field and unable to scroll.

Oh look 👀 it’s working now. Nice and fast easy scrolling now. Well done. I still think the text formatting header is too large though. Do we really need the large “post a reply” label font and blue circle button? Those two alone take up 20% of the screen space not including the keyboard.

apptest On the post I just made with quoted text, I just noticed the little arrow allowing users to unroll hidden text quoted went missing on my post and a couple of others close by. What causes the little unroll text feature to sometimes work and sometimes not? See image.

That post is just on the cusp of the size limit, a couple pixels on one side or another of the limit. Probably a miscalculation by the app

Thank you for taking the time to explain. I got to thinkin’ (which is always a little dangerous at my age), in the “old” App when replying to a post a box poped up without a formatting header taking up real estate. When posting using a browser only using “advanced mode” do text formatting options appear. I agree it’s an improvement and enhancement but perhaps improvement is subjective in the case of a phone app. By this I mean simplicity and elegance are also improvements. Just something to think 💭 about. Perhaps posting with the app could emulate the browser experience with a default simple plain text mode and also offer a “use advanced mode” button if users want to use the comprehensive text formatting header options? This would save space on smaller phone screens and perhaps simplify the default “post a reply” look 👀 and feel. Just my two cents..
