I actually really like Whistle Pig, it's just the price tag that is a little harder to justify.

That’s where I saw it. Price is pretty close to Total Wine if not the same. That might be what I’ll try next. Would like to try another Scotch.

Yeah that’s why I’m hesitant too. Around here it goes for about $70. I’ve had it before and not sure if I’d pay that vs a $30-40 bottle of rye from elsewhere.

I didn't see Talisker on your list anywhere, and the 10yo is an amazing SM Scotch. There is this salty briny note that I love and haven't really found it anywhere else. Just a suggestion if you're feeling adventurous. It's got some peat, but not anywhere near Lagavulin or other Islays

58 bucks at Costco which is good here anyway. Washington state has worst liquor prices in america.

If you want to try another, different, scotch I would recommend Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask, the Talisker 10 recommendation above is a good one, Arbelour is another good one to try (I prefer the 16), and the Oban 14 is good but doesn't fill it's price IMO. A lot of people also really like Highland Park offerings as well for very entry level peat.

I am a big fan of Balvenie. And the Carribbean Cask 14 has become my go to. Costco had it at a very decent price of $60 a bottle so I grabbed 8 bottles. It had to be done.

Hope you don't have a beetle problem, those holes on that stick are pretty worrisome...

Also - are you planning on aging that white dog or is it just for show?

I'll have to check that out.

My wife named our home The White Dog, so I picked that up just for shits and giggles.

If your sticks have holes like that or you see "sawdust" in your humidor at all that usually means you had too high of humidity/temp at some point and beetles hatched. You basically have to throw away most of the sticks that have bad damage and put the rest in the freezer to kill the beetles, and then most of them should be salvageable. There are good tutorials about this issue online if you look for it.

Good luck!

Nice. Seems that Oban is popular. How’s the taste compared to other whisk(e)ys?

So two of my Cohiba's had holes, I've disposed of them and inspected the rest of my collection and they all seem good so are sitting in the freezer for the next few days. I'll give the humidor a good cleaning tomorrow. Thanks for the catch, I've never seen that before. Shame about those two Cohiba's, I brought a few boxes back from Cuba a few years ago. I still have about a dozen or so left.

Make sure to read that link I posted above. You want to move from the freezer to the fridge before humidor in the other direction or they will crack from rapid change.

Good you found the issue while it was just one or two!

I saw that, so three days or so in the freezer, then a few days in the fridge before they go back into the humidor.....and I understand they will have to re-aclimate so it'll be a while before I enjoy a smoke dammit.

I went for a walk the other night in my small town. Lost our old little dog a few weeks ago, I used to walk him at night. Anyway, I took my flask with some nice Gold Table JW and a lovely Nicaraugan cigar. Some quality quiet time for me.

Cheers

My local cigar shop, while closed, is still taking phone orders and doing pick-up... could just get a few in a plastic bag with a Boveda, will stay good for a week or so at least.

Also, had a bottle kill last night, almost a second. Both fantastic ryes.
