Has anyone ever considered the possibility that this dealership might fuck with the car before Vang picks his car up? After realizing how crooked Ian and the rest of that lot is, I don't see how anybody would be able to find out.

that will lead to serious implications against the dealer, especially because this is now high profile.

they'll have to figure out a way to be VERY discrete with it. Plethora of pictures of the car in its current state

He bought the car 'as-is' unless something wasn't represented in the photos, or if the car doesn't start...there won't be anything he can do about what the tech finds. If he tries to walk away because the brakes are bad, or the car was repainted or XYZ, after all this fuss I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership tries to sue him just to stick it to him.

The car is his like it or not at this point.

Even their asking price was under blue book, so obviously the thing isn't perfect. For all he knows every body panel on that car was replaced.

I would guess Randy, the owner, has made it very clear that despite how anyone may feel, to not mess with the car. Talk about adding fuel to an already rapidly growing fire. I'm sure this has taken a huge toll on Honda of San Marcos' PR, they certainly can't afford much more.

I would ask for a photo of the odo, if he doesn't already have one. Shouldn't be any reason to add more than a mile to the car before pick up.

Regardless, you don't want to know all that stuff before taking it home?

Yes, I know that. I'm not having trouble understanding that aspect of the situation at all.

Road trip from Texas to Alaska without having the car looked over by a tech? Count me out.

I would make an appointment for the day after pickup and get the whole thing checked out to make sure it's roadworthy (like many of us do for track days) then be on my way. I see your point there.

That was all there was to my point actually. I don't think the dealership is going to fuck with the car, but I wouldn't for a second take a road trip like that without having an inspection done.

The OP's going to drive a GT-R from Texas to Alaska? Shit I'd rather have spent an extra $8k and gotten a used one with less miles from North California and cut out a thousand miles of sitting in a car that, from what I've heard, can be very uncomfortable after a couple hours of driving. Also, make sure you get this thing checked out before taking such a long trip.... If it's already had two owners and the second owner got rid of it within a month there might be something wrong with it. Can you paste the cars carfax on here?

Just read the whole thread. Congrats on getting the car! I like others would be worried what the dealership would do since you know they are clearly pissed off with the situation.

2 owners on a GTR isn't bad. You'll see it a lot on more exotic type cars since people won't daily them and maybe they just couldn't justify the purchase and re-sold it with not many extra miles on it.

WOW, is that ever shady. Glad things worked out for OP nonetheless.

Don't forget to take a dump on Ian's head.
