More than you know. Winston has a history. He shit in the car once when it was just he and I driving to Asheville. In the passenger seat on a seat cover sitting next to me. We were in rural SC. (Fortunately in my wife's SUV not my car, which was the only good news for me.). It was a very bad day for both of us. I think he ate some acorns or something else bad before we left. We made about 6 more stops the rest of the way and I was driving that Q5 about 100 mph most of the way from that point forward.

We now travel with a dog emergency kit that includes a backup seat cover, towels, a portable bath thing I hope we never use, water for the bath and dog shampoo. I think we have some vinyl gloves and baby wipes in there too. Knock on wood haven't needed it but I can't travel without it if they are coming along. Anyone in the back seat stands up and it's time to stop!
I laughed so hard reading this. Mostly because I can relate. When Bella was a puppy we took her into Boston on the T. She got nervous and shit all over the seat next to me. We had nothing to clean it up with. For about 2 years after that we always traveled with a "shit kit" that was poo bags, a rag, and wet wipes in a ziplock quart bag that I could throw in my pocket or the wife's purse.

Sophie turned out to be even worse. My wife brought her along to the airport to pick me and a coworker up from the airport after a business trip back from China. 13 hour flight and we were both exhausted. Sophie was just a puppy and unknown to us she had been sneaking poo snacks when we weren't looking. She was in my co workers lap in the back seat and vomited up some shit she had eaten. All over him and the back seat. The smell was horrendous. He started gagging, rolled the window down, and puked down the side of our car. Ahh memories.

My wife and I have three dogs.
4-year-old German Shepherd
10-12-year-old miniature Poodle (my german shepherd and I rescued her one morning, so exact age is unknown. Quite the story behind this)
16-year-old Shih-Tzu

Which doggie should I post?

Your choice, but why not post all of them?

We are equal opportunity admirers.

Besides, you might hurt their feelings if you don't post them all.

Luca is a Velcro dog. I'm hoping as time goes on he gets more comfortable. He knows when I'm about to leave. He will go outside but refuses to go to the bathroom. You would think being a border collie he would be smart enough to go to the bathroom before he goes to his kennel. Well, I have to hide for him to make it to the grass. I felt like someone was watching me and I turn around to see this

We are about 40 minutes into a 2-3 hour wait in the parking lot of an emergency pet hospital in Flat Rock, NC after Winston somehow scratched his eye. Sure wish I had eaten lunch earlier.

I bought a clipper kit to use on my Golden and I’m only ever him taking him to any groomer in the future is if I have zero time or am extremely lazy. I just put the 18mm on and went to town while he just laid there, took less than 30 minutes and looks better then when Petsmart does it too.

Can adult dogs be expected to use a bathroom? Provided there's a man taking pictures, wouldn't you be concerned/uncomfortable in your dog's place?

I bought a Oneisall two speed clipper and was uneasy about it with the double coat but it was $40 so I went for it, worse case I’d try to return it or sell it. It cuts fine with no extension on the patch behind the ear where they tend to get matted up but was a bit slower going with the 18mm extension on but we got through it and his coat is pretty even, short, but even. For thicker hair like on a golden doodle you may have to look into “professional” gear. I was shocked seeing some in the $400s, insane prices for hair clippers.

Thank you. We just got back. They flushed his eye and gave him a dye test to make sure there was no ulcer (and there were no signs of an ulcer). He is doing better. Antibiotic / steroid drops for 10 days + a soft cone if he paws at it again. Worth the $240 and 4+ hours of time to avoid an escalation.
