At least you have birds of prey and a known spot to get pics of them, Ed. The red tails here hang out along the highway and the eagles are across the local reservoir where there is no public access.

One more from this afternoon. This was really cool as I was just driving home from the dentist (again), when I pulled off near the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. The Carquinez Bridge (I-80) crosses a narrow channel in the bay, and there are currently dozens of Osprey hunting in the area. I only had to sit for a few minutes before watching a wonderful show of parents hunting fish for their young'uns. As a plus I got some cool shots of trains across the bridge from an angle I don't usually get. If I had to go to dentist, it was a fair trade. 20130719-_MG_7910 by lennycarl08, on Flickrthe (Forgive the power lines!) |

No raptors today from me, but I had lots of finches and warblers cooperating. Here's a bumblebee that posed nicely in the wonderful Colorado morning sun:
Bumble Bee on Milkweed by dcstep, on Flickr I'm just in love with hand holding my 1,000mm rig. I can shoot almost anything, given the right distance. This bee was around 15-feet away. It was hot, so I left my vest with the Extension Tube in the M3, but this was close enough for this guy in perfect light.

Nice photos guys! I'm a bit behind, as my power was off all day yesterday, and to make it worse, the cable was out as well, and stayed out until I went to bed last night, so no netflix or anything
I did process a bunch of pix after I at least got juice back though. I don't normally shoot or post turkey vultures, as I think they are right up there with pigeons and seagulls as far as interest goes, but I like the background of this one with the Carquinez Bridge behind it. A face only a mother could love! 20130719-_MG_8017 by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

^^^Nice shot, Ed. The TVs are so graceful. If they could just be cross-bred with eagles or something so they weren't so blasted ugly....
Love the bridge in the background.

I've got at least 2 dozen roosting in the trees behind my house. Every afternoon when I get home they're sailing around. Awesome to watch.

I need to try and shove a camera up to a scope to see if I can take a picture of a TV.
My bridge from today at the AC race. Yup, noisy sky. Call F&G, that striper is waay to small

never been there but passed by it many times. Was the stinky plant there? I guess I go to your home and take pictures and you come to mine. Craziness.
Great fern!

Agreed, the BG makes this shot.
With TVs you need be up close or catch them feeding on something really bloody...or have an interesting BG.
