More DB5 love... just before the introduction of the Aston-Martin DB6, the factory had 37 short-chassis DB5 chassis models "left over" and so made a short run of 37 DB5 Volante convertibles. A few had 325 hp Vantage engines.

When the New Beetle was introduced in 1997, VW had a great ad campaign. I bet some people didn't get it.

Always wanted one of these. This particular one, in this particular color, with these particular wheels.

I kick myself for not pulling the trigger on buying an FD 10+ years ago. "Meh, why would I spend $15k on that?"

I did have a Turbo II FC for while, though. Granted I stripped it in favor of an LS...

It would be cool to have a set of those cars with license plates John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

I also had the opportunity to buy a low-mile virgin FD in 2000, but passed on it in favor of an S2000. I had worked for Mazda in the 90's, so I knew the problems the cars had, even when left stock and treated/serviced properly. I could afford the payment, I just couldn't afford the issues if they were to arise (likely).

But I dream of them still, and always will.

Interesting tech but what's the actual application besides experimentation. It's a 20min ride on a track racing against who/what. I know there are lots of folks who will nerd out on this but it's like Formula E, does anyone pay attention to it? I think we are a long way away from racing being all EVs, and I doubt it will ever succeed.

In 1903, the Wright brothers flew an airplane for the first time with a top speed of 30 mph just a few feet off the ground and with a range of 900'. Sixty years later, the SR-71 made its first flight with a speed of 2,200 mph (or faster) at an altitude of over 85,000' and a range of 2,900 miles.

I get that, but this car is being marketed as a track day car I assume and at a cost of $2M pounds. It just seems to be too niche.

I think this is a money grab in the beginning, seed money to further research.

I think it's more likely a toy for the billionaire that has everything else. I wonder what the car would do on the Nürburgring?
