Good: dial is gorgeous, and has nice applied markers. Movement dates to 1954 (not 1952 as seller stated, but still.) Keeps time well. Has new Omega signed strap and buckle. Gold is still nice and even on case; isn't over-polished or brassed.

Bad: I suspect it may be a franken; dial color/indices are a little casual for ultra-formal wear; not sure if crown is original style or not

But as I said before, I'd always wanted a respectable watch with a green face and this has a very very nice one; pictures can't really capture the very subtle starburst which is quite attractive. I probably overpaid for it, but it makes me happy, so whiskey tango foxtrot.
Very nice.

I would love to buy a vintage Omega as a dress watch but don't even know where to begin...seems like there is a lot to know. Whereas you can pretty much just go and buy a new watch you like and not worry about what it is you have.

The face design on that Invicta Tourbillon looks like a big flesh colored tick.

do you have other needs for that money or debt that money could go towards? If the answer is "no" then there really is no reason why you shouldn't.

There's currently 3 watch threads that I know of in this forum. It's kind of a pain. Would be nice if it were condense.

this is my 52mm Invicta Venom Limited Edition 74 of 300 that i just got last night.

the red border on the face looks pink since it's so close to the blue dial - i really like it.

when anyone asks, i'm going to tell them it's pink

Love the Hydro Conquest.

If it makes you feel any better (not that you need to) I have a Longines dress watch that dates to 1957 and the only reason I don't wear it every day is that it's not water resistant - it's been quite trouble free for me. Picked it up in a lot off eBay to get another watch that I thought I wanted more and when it arrived it became part of the regular rotation.

hahaha, I had to read that a few times to figure out whether you were being sarcastic . That is a nice piece. My FIL has an older Rolex and I have to admit, the older watches have a lot of charisma. Anyway, enjoy in good health.

The reason I got the Longines is that I want to take up scuba diving, and being able to withstand 200M, I can potentially go down that deep, despite the fact that I don't think humans could go down that far, but its nice to know that your watch won't fold on you under all that pressure.

Your theory is sound. You want something rated for more then you will ever need because as time goes on, that rating doesn't necessarily last.
On the other side of things, I've seen it said,

"Water resistant is good for a few rain drops, 10m is good for the sink, 30-50m is good for a pool and maybe a swim in the lake or ocean (waves)."

So in theory, I wouldn't take a 200m to 200m, I would get something more capable that I'd trust. But as you said, you're unlikely to ever get to that depth, and it you do, it's at least rated for that.
