Dammit. I forgot I was racist. My people are going to revoke my card now...

I thought maybe the plate was missing a T

I ordered it without the extra T, and it's a good thing I did, because I saw a Scion FRS () with the TURNTUP plates.

My plates are more a request/invitation, as opposed to a declaration of drunkenness. Fitting for a ruined BMW.

What if your significant other wanted to buy you a car and she could only afford a 320i but you'd really like to be in a m3 and you choose to put some of your money into the purchase now with her money and your money you get an m3. Sounds good to me
I can most certainly read:

Didn't want your head bit off, you should've simply posted the latter portion of your post there. The "buts" afterward mean precisely crap to me. This first part told me everything about how you truly feel.

You can't compare those thing together. The only time I pay attention to money spent ratio is for the house. I won't spend 3k on the m3 and then cheap out on things the house needs. example while I was gone the washer went out. So I bought a platinum whirl pool set of washer and dryer for the house.

If the amount you spend on a hobby you love is compared to that of a ring which is suppose to stand for something else you need to take notice.

But if you are willing to spend 15k for a watch and not a ring then I could see her point. but again a ring is a gift, the price of it isn't the point.
This, my friend. I would prioritize the ring than the watch and parts for the car.

Needless to say, I'm much happier now. And it will NOT be receiving any sort of ridiculous stance treatment. The 335i actually didn't last very long in this stage.
Word. I've been over the stance game for a while. Now I'm in the diamond game lol. I parted my car out in prep to sell it, but decided to keep it as it's a perfect daily, though I do miss my KWs. I drove a customer's 2016 M3 and omg they're awesome. Enjoy!

OP, you may never be able to keep up with the lifestyle to which she is accustom. If the two of you are not in sync with that reality there will be problems. Building a happy, healthy, loving relationships is hard enough without throwing money issues/lifestyle expectations into the mix.

If she is not ready to live a less luxurious life and be okay with it, including not worrying about what her family thinks and what her friends think, then you are in for misery. If you get her a high quality 1ct ring it's less than $10k. If she is troubled by that, the issues I mentioned will magnify as the marriage heads toward the the highly-likely crash.

I recommend you sit down with her and share discuss this issue like two grown ups. Buying a ridiculously expensive ring is not about showing your love, its about showing off. If she is embarrassed socially by a smaller than expected ring, that is really only just the beginning of the issues.

Better yet, go through the responses to to your post with her and discuss in detail. You will quickly get an idea where her head is at by her reaction to the advice you are getting from your caring BMW friends.

Whatever you decide, good luck!

Haha, nice! Sounds good man, your car was very clean from what I remember of it. At least you're still around the car/BMW scene, somewhat.

The new BMW's are indeed something else. It was good to hear from you!

Plus the whole, 'oh but her husband did this and she has that and they asked me why i don't have this and why you only did this...' blah blah blah!

I can see where this is going to go.

Couldn't help thinking when seeing this image though that I hope it's always the guy in the back who ejects first!

Nah. Not even that much effort to understand you, but your generosity in assuming some level of sincerity is heartwarming.

Once you're married it's a different story when it comes to money made while you're married or debts incurred while you're married, unless you have a prenup.

I'll never have joint finances again, it cost me way too much in my last divorce.
Are you married? Do you have a prenup? If yes to being married, still not following how you keep the finances separated and how big bills/purchases work. Kids are going to college, honey I need your portion? Then she says sorry because she hasn't been saving anything?

I think the amount of money/debt you brought into the marriage and what happens when you divorce depends on where you live, the prenup and how long you were together.
