Why is it so difficult to understand that men actually, sometimes, forget to do the shit work you ask them to do???

When female #1 tells female #2, 'He's cute in his own way'. Does this mean that female #1 doesn't find said male attractive? I know that looks aren't everything but looks do make a first impression. Said male would have to make female #1/#2 laugh, make them feel comfy before they would be physically attractive to female #1/#2?

I ask this because I've heard my previous gf's friends say this about other guys and when I ask them what that means I get various answers.

They have appeal only someone in love could get. Like my bullmastiff who fart and stinks and kind of ugly but I like him.

Probably a "not hideous, but not really my type, I can see how you'd be into it but I'm not" sort of thing. Or could be a "you probably don't think he's cute, but for some reason I'm into it." Needs context. Laughter always helps.
