When I was a road warrior I used every trick in the book to keep the miles and stays up for maximum swag. The annual value of the Platinum is about $7K to $8K and the golds were about $3K to $3.5K, each for a total of $6K to $7K. If you preserved the Jet card for 24 months and used the private jet once every 3 or 4 months, you ended up reducing the cost by at least 40% and you flew Gold or Plat, minimum for the long hauls. A good deal if managed properly.

Hotels can be more difficult.
