I hope that's the way it works. Diesel in a gas engine is an inconvenience while gas in a diesel engine is catastrophic.

Gasoline nozzles and gas tank filler openings in the USA were reduced to a smaller diameter in the 1970's, to prevent leaded gasoline from being put into unleaded cars.

Diesel, leaded fuel, AVGas, kerosene, etc also use the larger original nozzle diameter, and cannot be added to an unleaded gas tank.

Owning a diesel pickup and frequenting the big-rig pumps with the mega-flow nozzles, I don't think I would have the patience to squeeze 35 gallons through a restrictive unleaded-sized nozzle.....

Yeah, the nozzles are different diameters so the diesel nozzle doesn’t fit in a car that doesn’t take diesel. Ask me how I know.

I decided to look it up. Diesel nozzle shouldn't fit in car that runs on gasoline. If it did, it would happen a lot more often while people are posting on social media to let everyone know they are filling up their car and not paying attention to what they are doing.

I used to be a member of a diesel forum, and there were newbie posts at least once per week asking what the best way is to flush gasoline out of the tank/line/injectors/filters after an accidental gas fill-up.
