When we were kids my father would come home from a hard day's work and spend hours creating a luge-like run in our backyard, which was a hill that ran out to the front of the house and the street. He'd dig a trench in the snow and build up the sides to make curves, then spray it down so it would freeze over night. We had these plastic toboggan things that would fly down that track. Good times.

We ended up getting nothing but the temps. Typical high temp today in OKC would be 44-45. Today it was 7 and it's been getting colder all day, wind chill at 7am was -19 with 55 mph gusts.

But the roads are dry so I get to pick up my car!

Getting nasty. Got an Amazon package supposedly being delivered today. I'd like to tell the driver to forget it and get off the road. Not worth risking an accident for a trivial package.

The way those Amazon drivers are worked, sadly, I’m sure he’ll still be on the road today.

Now the tracking says it's back at the Amazon facility. So hopefully that means they pulled their drivers back off the road. Good for them.

That surprising, but glad to hear it.

When they’re on my street they practically run from house to house because of the pressure to get it delivered.

Not unusual to get Amazon packages late into night.

Nice! The kids get so much joy out of it and worth every cent of effort.

Rather annoying, snow - rain - snow, make up my mind

I'll try to go for a snowshoes treck before or after the rain start.

Classic seattle. Even when it’s below freezing, it’s still raining. WTF.

Same here -- light freezing rain. I live out in the country so don't have to deal with it as much, but in the hilly terrain of downtown Portland, it's bumper cars. Horrible. That said, almost two years ago we had a freezing rain event here that brought down power lines and power poles and took out our electricity for two weeks straight.

Good news over here, the rain is stopping and should be dry for Christmas Eve at +13C.

I hope the roads are cleaned up by Monday. 1. I can wash my car at work and 2. it'll be a bit less stressful to drive to work.

Rain on top of snow equal to an increase of heart attack. Super heavy snow.

After an '08 ice storm in New Hampshire, we felt fortunate to have a full-house backup generator that got us through 12 days without power. A crew from Pennsylvania finally got us back on-line on Christmas Eve. In terms of convenience, that generator was one of the better home improvement buys I've ever made.

Heavy snow is the worst, especially if you've got a lot of it to move by hand. New England Nor'easters dumped wet, heavy stuff on us that seemed more like fresh cement than anything resembling snow. Clearing that was always a real workout.

We got rain yesterday that turned to ice around midnight. Then it snowed on top of that. I had no choice and had to go out twice in it today. It was not a good time to be on the road. There weren't many cars out, but half the drivers didn't seem to know how to manage the icy and slippery conditions very well - especially on hills, which are hard to avoid around here. The interstate was especially tricky with cars and pickups sliding around a fair amount.

Well apparently heavy winds at the NC house overnight. Camaras picked up a closed umbrella being opened and blown away and even blew off the cover on my truck which is not only on pretty tight but also has a strap with a clip. Suppose to be a low of 6 today and 4 tomorrow then teens for a couple of days. No snow so far... still glad I'm in FL.

The webcam at our NC house show a good amount of snow, over 3,000 ft above sea level, so not surprised. We are postponing our trip though for a day or two...
