The full screen playback obfuscation looks horrible. The author is using a simulator though, and if you look at the developer guidelines, apple suggests to keep the "notch" in consideration for full screen content as noted by the "safe area":

It's up to the third party developers, like youtube, netflix etc, to follow the dev kit guides make sure their content does not get obscured.

Also, look at the aspect ratio of the iPhone X screen. 16:9 HD content will fit inside the display without needing to go edge to edge on the sides:



The blue area is the 16:9 video safe area while the grey area is the AVkit safe area.

In other words, Apple is well aware of the potential notch obfuscation and is doing all they can to make sure devs don't fall victim.

You can sign for it electronically through UPS or print out the authorization and leave it on your door.

Would rather not have a $1200 phone left at my door but yes I am aware of the option. If they could send it to the amazon locker that would be awesome though. FedEx should work with Apple and Amazon for deliveries.

FYI, looks like shipping is now 3-4 weeks on apple's site, lending validity to my theory that you will only likely have to wait about 1 week for your phone at the latest, now that supply issues have then worked out regarding the Face ID camera. Would like to know how many of you have already sold iphones at 2x markup, and if anyone is buying at that price, is it worth waiting an extra week or spending $1k more to have it today?

screw that. 3-4 weeks is a massive improvement and if i were not able to get my phone on launch, i would just wait it out. as for the second phone, if my wife is adamant she DOESNT want the phone, i'll just sell it locally with little to no profit. i dont see why anyone would want to pay that much more for something they can get in 2-3 weeks, which is really not bad at all.

Check CL. There are multiple iPhones in Chicago for 100-200 over. You can probably negotiate and get one for +100. Ebay prices also dropped. I wonder how many will cancel after they paid 1-2k extra.


I ordered from BB and there are some reports that they are moving the delivery dates forward. They re-charged my CC yesterday so hopefully I see some activity.

The "not-sponsored" reviews are starting to surface and they tend to agree with you. The screen feels smaller (compared to plus), has some yellow tint and viewing angles are worse.

The screen is bigger on the X by diagonal, but is actually a good bit narrower than the plus display. Video display is smaller

at the end of the day, it's still an iOS device. the interface, other than a few gestures, is the exactly the same.

i'll probably be excited over the phone for a day, get over it really quick, and go back to spending money on more useless stuff like car parts.

Mine says Destination Scan too. I called Fedex and they seem to think it will deliver before 3:00 like it says... honestly I don't see it happening.

yeah after a few minutes of posting that, the UPS truck departed and the status changed to "out for delivery". ive seen my UPS guy walking back and forth to make deliveries, but ive been nice enough not to stalk him and demand my package.

Says it will deliver by 8pm. Had plans this evening but may cancel them unless I can pick it up at the distro center when I get off work. I visited the Apple Store and there is still line and local tv stations filming the event live. Got to check out a demo unit. I already ordered the case and fast wired and wireless charging so everything is good to go as I have all my accessories already.
