Good catches, I especially like the CG boat.

Don't tempt fate. You do know the history of where you live?

Bring it on! I'd rather have an exciting earthquake than the monthly challenges that the midwest and East see.
During the Loma Prieta 89 6.9 earthquake, the only issue I had was wondering where my wife was. She isn't that lucky and was slightly displeased to find me sleeping on the floor while watching the news. I think it took her ~8 hours to finally make it home. I was at Disneyland for the Northridge 94 6.7 and just watched the walls move while laying in bed.
We are overdue for one on the Hayward fault and that one will not be pretty.

I'd worry more about your daughter living in SF, unless her place is on rock.

It just depends on where you are. I live a couple hours north of Mark and have never had a flood, tornado, etc... My parents had water in their basement before but that was because their home builder put in an undersized drain hose for their sump. It's been fine since it was replaced. I don't have a basement but no matter the rain, I've never even seen pooling in my lawn nor cows nor trucks flying by in strong winds.

She actually is on rock, but one gas fire and her block of painted ladies would be up in a flash. Maybe she'll be at work and stuck out in Mountain View.

Jeff,
I once saw some stuff called "snow". ;-)
Ed and I just get to see lots of hawks coming down from the sky. I did see one flying through a flock of shorebirds yesterday. I thought it was going to knock one down and have lunch.

Dave,
Pretty Victorians but never liked that about SF. At least it isn't in the Marina district or by the Embarcadero. All of that is filled in bay and liquefies. She could have a "Earthquake gas shutoff valve" installed. New construction and remodels get that.

Speaking of earthquakes...well not really, but this was taken just a few miles from the epicenter of the 06 Big One. Pt Reyes. I didn't even have to get out of the car.

From the unveiling and North American debut of the Jeff Koons BMW M3 GT2 Art Car last night at Art Basel, Miami.

BMW set up a beautiful event to showcase the car. Jeff Koons was there and gave a speech - I got to meet him and shake his hand as well, which was awesome!

Thanks to BMW for inviting me to this event!

I'll make a full thread on it in the M3 forum, because this gorgeous car deserves to be seen!

One of my favorite shots, using 6D + TS-E 17, hand held, MF, f/4, 1/60, ISO 1600

BTW the Andy Warhol BMW M1 Art Car is also on display at Art Basel, for anyone who's in Miami...

Bald Eagle Perched in Snow by dcstep, on Flickr

This is from yesterday. I haven't processed my pix from this a.m., but it was -17F when I went out before work today. I had on gloves and mittens and my hand still were numb from ten-minutes watching the birds.
