I have no problem with that, I'd never drink Vodka neat/up/rocks, even though there are myriad that are high enough quality to do so. Each to their own. What are your criteria for "being worthy" of drinking a spirit unmixed? |

I have a lot of favorites, it really depends on what variety you are talking about. Most of my favorites are cask strength store picks though so they are not directly translatable to what you can find just anywhere. I'll try to put together a short list of off the shelf stuff I would recommend later.

January 6 has arrived. Now its a matter of intention, and not a work requirement, to continue with Dry January.
The mere fact that I was considering this as I woke at 0530 indicates problem thinking, yes? |

Damn Problem Thinkers. Always so sure you can handle your thinking and then you go on a binge thinking spree and go all haywire on us. If you can't handle your thinking, then quit cold turkey and deal with the consequences. Go find a local Thinkaholics Anonymous group and start your 12 Steps to Stupidity program. And for Pete's sake, don't think and drive!!

Stopped to pick up a snack for my team this morning and Ardbeg 10 was on sale for $39.99, so I grabbed one! Always nice to find a good drink on sale.

That depends on what you're thinking about doing with it.

True, if you cut a small hole in a watermelon, I have a very different reaction if you put a bottle of vodka in it vs. putting it in the microwave

In order to understand the above, you should probably know that Ardbeg 10 (in a 750ml bottle) up here is $100. I trust that provides the necessary clarity. |

That never makes it to Iowa, sadly. It is one of their better offerings. A lot of people put it above the 12 or CYPB even. I am road tripping in March and hope to find a few bottles and maybe even a few store picks along the way

Yeah- I think there are a couple places in Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio that have it but it's rare to find at MSRP. I had to make an early trip to my local store and wait 30 minutes in the cold for a chance to buy it.

That's a nice pour, assuming you paid retail for it. Secondary market type pricing is insane for that bottle.
Gone are the good old days that you could find that bottle pretty regularly for ~$25. Hell, I used to be able to get Elijah Craig 18 whenever I wanted it for sub-$40 back in 2010 or so. I should have bought cases back then. CASES. |

Not sure if there are any tequila snobs here but I had the chance to try 2 good ones over the holidays-
1) Don Julio 1942... outstanding taste, a little sweet and a great smell... a fine sipping tequila. 2) Codigo 1530 Anejo... even better taste than 1942 albeit not your typical tequila taste Anyone know anything else in the up to $120 range that is very good? |

You can get this for under $100 at total wines, it is absolutely the best tasting tequila at this price point. I do recommend though that you drink it neat at its really smooth and has a very nice texture almost a bit thick like a liquor which is totally lost if you ice it. Good luck! |

When y'all finish your clase azul bottles, I'll send you a shipping container? Wife has decided I am making lamps, she is finding bottles at second hand stores. I suggested she buy FULL bottles, and I will take care of emptying them, she didn't go for that so much
I bought a tile hole saw last night, going to give it a whirl on the first bottle this weekend. Now, as to sipping, my go to is the Tres Generaciones (sp?) anejo. $40-50. |
