I installed the same B6 damptronics after 70k miles on the chassis and they were skipping and losing traction over small bumps. It was noticeably better after resetting.

From some technical documents on the E65 where I guess this system was introduced:
https://www.meeknet.co.uk/E64/09_E65...20Dynamics.pdf

From Page 20

Tolerance Adaptation
The damper force is diminished as part of the operating time function. Diminishing damper forces are compensated by current (amperage) reductions which are calculated by the tolerance control. This also individually compensates for mechanical damper wear on each axle.

And from page 23

Mechanical wear causes the dampers to weaken over the service life, therefore a running time memory adapts the damper curves towards a harder setting (over time). Faulty dampers must be replaced together (in pairs) on a single axle. After a replacement, the running time memory for the front or rear axle must be reset with the DISplus.

May also apply to your Alpina?
It shouldn't, the B7 doesn't have EDC. Alpina used Eibach lowering springs and the same Sachs dampers that BMW put on the E65/E66 sport models. There's only one damper option for the B7 unless you want to go with coilovers (blasphemy).

Sreten doesn't like sunroofs, so I can't see that he'd be too precious about a vert. Also useful to have a whole parts car

The E93 M3 is indeed a parts car. A little more information on that in the next episode

Also Sreten Next time you do a tear down, tap on each piston to see if you have a "disconnecting rod".

Pretty clear what happened there: the first main bearing spun, because s65. Owner kept driving, as it deteriorated further and further... That bearing got so loose that the nose of the crank started to flex a lot. This probably caused a lot of wear on 1 and 5 rod bearings, and destroyed the front main seal...but the owner kept driving. Eventually the front main bearing got so loose that the flex was enough to break the crank. Only then did the driver take notice. I bet it was driven for hundreds of miles, eating the front main bearing, before the crank snapped. Heat doesn't really factor in the crank failure at all, though for sure there would have been a fair bit generated. Special.

The next episode of Project Rottweil (E39 530i Touring) is now available.
Plus a special guest appearance of the lovely E39 M5.

Awesome, will check it out tonight.

Meant to ask earlier in this thread, going back to the B7 Sreten mentions some company in Czech Republic that does a lot of E65 stuff (it's Jarex or Yarex I think? not sure if I'm spelling that correctly). Does anyone have any info or a link to this place? I'd like to check them out (no pun intended

Also, does anyone happen to know what phone mount he's using in the E65?

I've got their stuff and they work a treat. I don't trust leather products from brands that sell anything from wheel cleaners to leather dyes

So Colourlock applied some sort of two-pqrt urethane coating? How will product get past the coating?

maybe i misheard or misunderstood, but they said during the cleaning process to never spray the cleaning foam on the leather because leather shouldn’t get wet, you only spray it on the brush so you’re essentially cleaning to top layer of oils living on top layer of the leather. i don’t think the cleaner is supposed to penetrate the leather? i also know the leather protector and leather shield act like a wax or ceramic coat, where they don’t penetrate but just create a layer of protection against dye transfer or minor damage.

again i could be completely wrong but that’s how my brain understood it.
