That is an excellent plan. You'll love the F8 (discs or not) and the color scheme is classic. My neighbor has the same red/black F8 but he built it with Ultegra.

I love those BMCs.
As for the disc CD rim brakes debate I went to discs last year on my Roubaix and I have a Roubaix without discs and the same spec (other than some upgraded Mavic wheels) and all I can say is that the difference is challenging and cheese. I can safely say that I will never have another road bike without discs!

Went to the shop to pick up my replacement frame. Built up one of the DIVO frames for a few test rides but got home to find out that my front tire rubbed the inside of the fork and the U portion of the rear brake caliper. So that's officially out, even though the price of $3k with Campy SuperRecord Limited group set was somewhat attractive.

Also learned that BMC is requiring that we send back the defective BMC frame set which is going to force a decision on the F8 sooner than later.... Here is the new frame.

I don't want to look to upgrade, and know a min will be ultegra components (though those cube bikes include dura ace for less than the big names like cannondale), and possibly disc brakes since I think they will be the norm in 2-3 years.

I ride a 50-51 cm frame. Depends on fit obviously. Short legs and long torso. I've ridden my friends woman caad12 52cm and it was terrible. I felt like I was launching over the top of the bars.

I guess my answer is to shop around and ride. That bmc is sexy! Haven't seen many locally. (Ct)

Was that a standard color option or did you go custom on the paint for yours? I really like your colors, they remind me of Gulf livery race cars.

It's custom and Gulf livery is exactly what I was going for, thanks for noticing! Typically Gulf colors are primarily blue with orange stripes, I did the reverse trying to be a little different.

Go to Pinarello "MyWay" and you can customize it almost any way you want. The downside is that it took 4 MONTHS to get!

Very early beginner road cyclist here. I got into the sport two years ago, sophomore year of highschool, and I love it, no matter how bad I might be at it. I love riding just to ride more than I do racing, and I hope to explore many amazing places with my bike someday (using my M3 to bring it with me long distances, of course).

I figured as much. The other downside is, unless my browser is cocking it up, you can't even get that color combo anymore.

Anyway, i'm not prepared to wait 4 months. lol I'm about 99.98% sure i'm placing the order tonight.

If you want to meet some cool people, do some awesome riding in epic locals, give these guys a shout. They do several riding camps out of Tucson, may be worth it if you want to get some winter riding in. We're did Glacier to Yellowstone this year and are signed up for Tuscany 2018.

I do. The whole fleet actually. I have to decide between a full day dedicated to cleaning all of them or clean them as they get ridden and just dedicate a day to maintenance for all of them.

Staying on top of it makes it quicker to complete.

i dropped my bike at the LBS for this reason
also, a late summer fall banged up my rear derailleur. fortunately, it didnt exhibit problems until after i swapped the chain and cleaned it ,then started on my trainer.

wish there were good ways to learn to tune other than trial and error lol

I've got one of these in my tool box. It's nice to be able to go back and reference stuff that you don't do often. Like torque figures, etc.. Most manufactures are listing torque figures on their parts these days though.

But it goes into great detail and logically explains how things work and what the effects are of certain adjustments.

Yes, this way I know everything was done correctly. Only thins I don't do are the 2 things I don't have the tools for. Pressing headset bearings and building wheels. I find that most shops don't know what a torque wrench is which usually results in over tightened fasteners.

Side benefit is that if you ever have a road side issue, or one of your friends does, you know how everything works so you have a good chance of being able to fix it.
