The number of hypotheticals in this thread is actually starting to give me a headache.

The fact of the matter is, not a single individuals walking on this planet can say for certainty what the outcome would have been had the circumstances been different.

I respect the ruling and have no opinions for or against it. Act like an uncivilized adult, you get treated as an uncivilized adult. Wilson did what he saw fit to take control of the situation. Criticize his judgment all you want, you weren't in the position he was in.

Didn't read far enough apparently.

Edit: Ahh, I was wondering where the chokehold came into play on Brown. Haha

AMEN!

I am a bit surprised charges weren't brought in the Garner case.

The analogies and baseless assumptions are ridiculous in here. You all make me want to walk to the nearest ICU and start second-guessing all of the decisions being made in there because - you know - this one time I played doctor as a kid and all the other kids thought I was good at it, so I should be allowed to tell doctors and nurses how they should be doing their jobs. In a couple days I'll probably be ready to instruct and audit the Neurologists.

"He said he couldn't breathe, they should have gotten off him at that point." I'm sorry, that has me so close to tossing the R word out here. One is clearly clueless if he/she thinks that statement made by a desperate perp should be taken with any merit. The boy who cried wolf has come and gone a thousand times on that front. They scream all kinds of bloody murder. The more cell phones and witnesses they have, the more dramatic it gets.

We live in reality people. Well at least most of us do. Some of you obviously don't.

If you don't want to get your ass beat by the cops, don't break the law, not even the small ones that you don't agree with. Even if you didn't break the law and don't want to get your ass beat by the cops, don't resist arrest. Get arrested and sue for unlawful arrest, get a nice settlement.

These aren't difficult concepts for rational humans to grasp.
So if I get pulled over for going 7 mph over the posted speed limit, I should get my ass beat by the cops?

Sound logic. One would think a reasoned response would be to hold law enforcement official to a higher standard as it is their job to serve and to protect. I don't see either instance being upheld in that video.

Part of me thinks that years of dealing with urban neighborhoods have conditioned these police to just have little in the way of professionalism towards the people they interact with since I'd imagine these guys do deal with some shady characters. Another part of me thinks that maybe the way they're trained could possibly be an issue. Like that cop who shot and killed that child in Cleveland who had a toy gun (which admittedly looked convincing). With things like the terror attacks in Boston, mass shootings in schools, malls, etc, are cops being trained to deal with seemingly simple scenarios as though they're terror events or events that could lead to a mass shooting?

Yes. In fact, they should get out the Billy clubs and make it worth while.

I think we can all agree that you should get your ass beat by the cops if you "resist arrest". If you do something wrong and comply, life goes on. It's amazing how that works.

The guy got killed by a Stingray. For fucks sake, he could have at least gotten killed by a gator. I'm going to have to side with Eric on this one. Sorry Crocodile Dundee, may you rest in peace.

He wasn't resisting arrest. They didn't even have a reason to arrest him, they never found cigarettes on him. They didn't bother searching until he was dead anyway.

I'm not sure how much you know about the law, but generally the process works in the reverse.

But if you want to be ignorant to things like that, knock yourself out.

I know everything about the law. Not only am I on the internet, but I am an American, so I know everything there is to know about everything. Go ahead and ask me anything, I'll tell you about it.

Are you saying they all should have shoved their hands in his pockets while they were on top of him?

Where in the video was he complying with law enforcement...., except when he was on the bottom?
