Why? Because you chose to wear shoes that are cumbersome to disconnect from the bike and didn't want the inconvenience of stopping (or at minimum slow down)? Keep it up and you'll never have to wear shoes again...

Yeah, people riding bikes on roadways can be a polarizing topic. On one hand I appreciate the fact they are getting a workout in, not driving a car around, and if biking is their main form of transportation good for them on saving money. On the other hand, if you are going to bike on the roadways do so in a very defensive manner and don't expect cars to always notice you there or be able to avoid you when you are being dumb. With all the idiot drivers out there people on bikes are really vulnerable and it bothers me that bikers somehow expect car drivers to never hit them. So many dumb accidents happens and bikers have very little protection if something were to happen; they should drive around assuming they are going to get hit.

Even in my m240i I have to drive very defensively. It's a small car, low to the ground, and I have had a few times where I've had to hammer the brakes or swerve because people have pulled out in front me. If I wasn't driving defensively and was just enjoying my "right of way" my car would have been totaled.

I ride a road bike and every cyclist should know to not put themselves between 2+ tons of metal and where it wants to go. Dick move for sure, he should have just slowed a little so to let the car already at the intersection proceed.

I should clarify that I don't have an issue with cyclists sharing the road in the general sense. I'm a cyclist myself (albeit prodominately MTB). It's when they don't follow traffic laws that boggles my mind.

Another one that also happened yesterday was a guy riding a bicycle outfitted with some type of small 2-stroke motor was riding in the dedicated bike lane... but going the wrong direction. Things got tricky as both he and I came to an intersection at the same time (no stop sign or anything, just an intersection), and I had no indication of what this dude was going to do.

Bicyclists often behave like the "moms" who wheel their stroller into traffic without looking figuring people will stop for their baby carriage like a magical force field shield...or blind man's cane feeling for obstacles.
