I'm the same way. I always have something on my feet. I'd rather be punched in the face than to walk on gravel barefoot.

Looks great! I really like your choices in faucets in both the kitchen and bathroom. Good choice in pallet for color in both rooms as well. What did you use for membrane in the shower? Did you tile the ceiling in the shower? The recessed shelves in the shower are always a good choice. Very well done!

Concrete backer with brush on waterproofing. We only did to the height of the old fiberglass shower because I am lazy and it never gets wet.

I started grouting yesterday with this crazy pearlescent metal flake grout and I looked like I gave the tin man a handy when I was done!

Love it! I just did my shower with large grey tile and two vertical mosaic strips. The pictures I have don't do it justice. I'll try and take better shots. My tiles are flat (not shiny) though with different tones in color.

My entire house was a DIY project. Every single room floor to ceiling pretty much needed to be redone. I'm talking sheetrock, windows, mouldings, paint, electrical etc.

The bones of the house were good and the home was well taken care of by the original owners but everything was just so outdated. Took me and my father in law mainly along with some help from a few others a long the way about 3 months 60-70 hours a week from when we bought the home to when we moved in. Obviosuly some of these pics were taking before we even finished mouldings and whatnot

Here are some of my favorite transformations. Kitchen cabinets are original just resurfaced and with new hardware. ( next post)

Do you still have to put up drywall if you're using backerboard on the shower walls? Reading up on how to water proof the shower

No I believe you use backer board in the shower and keep drywall out of the shower. Tile over backer board. At least I'm pretty sure that's they way my bathroom remodel was done, but I didn't do it myself...

Do it right...

Go to the John Bridge forums and learn everything you need to know, and ask questions from pros.

No clue, sorry. My idea of DIY is writing the check and paying someone to do it for me.

Anyone know if rules changed on posting pics? I used to be able to upload from my computer, now it's not working. Had to do photobucket.

No the wonderboard is in place of drywall. Technically you should but a water barrier over the studs and then the wonderboard. Then seal all the seams before you tile over it. The cement board is used in place of drywall because it is much more porous and allows moisture to escape easier if it gets wet.

If you want tile as the flooring then you need to waterproof the floor too, I'm sure anyone in a local department store like Home Depot or Lowes could show you what you need.

Correct. You want no drywall in there.

Waterproofing membranes are all the rage and have come onto the market pretty recently. As one member mentioned, read up all you can on the subject.

But definitely no drywall in the enclosure. We expended the backer board about 12 inches past the shower enclosure just for good measure.

I've never been able to upload from my PC and have always used an online photo storage to "host". But I thought it was just my lack of knowing how to do it from the PC directly....

Yup. Complete pain in the a$$ to install, but definitely worth it if installing tile in a bathroom.

My most recent addition to the house I did last May. Me and my two buddies did the rough framing together and I finished the rest of the work myself. I made Custom stairs too for my giant feet lol

Just added lattice this year which looks mint, just didn't bother taking a pic yet. Pretty happy with how it turned out
