I pretty much eat out for lunch and dinner every day. I'm not much of a wine person but sometimes I'll get an appetizer and/or dessert along with an entree, and it adds up pretty quickly. You know every now and then I'll be back at a restaurant for like the 4th or 5th time in a month and I'll inevitably get asked by a repeat server "You're so young what do you do?!" and every time I sheepishly have to answer "I'm just a student." Sometimes it ends at that and it's understood that I'm what one might call a "trustafarian." Sometimes I'm asked to elaborate. Every time it's an embarrassing situation to be in. Maybe it seems strange that I should self-reflect in this way but being spoiled rotten is nothing to be proud of. I know that, and a recent exchange with a waiter similar to what I've mentioned above reinforced that fact yet again. I think that's really what pushed me to curb my spending habits. I love food, but it doesn't "feel" right to enjoy it in the way I'm enjoying it. I've always said that my one dream before I die is to visit every 3 Michelin star restaurant on earth at least once, but I'd like that to be be the fruits of my own labor you know? Anyways, I'm about a 5 days into my "fine dining fast" and I've spent a grand total of $10 so far on food, mostly eating an unsustainable diet of frozen pizzas, cereal, PB&J sandwiches, cheap $1 boxed pastas, and cheap baked goods ($1 muffins). I even found this great youtube user who routinely reviews frozen foods: https://www.youtube.com/user/Freezerburnsdotcom. But, I think the diet that Mr Tonka posted (thank you again for the recommendations!) is far more sustainable, and I'm slowly going to move over to something like that. Realistically 2 or 3 months down the road will I be able to keep this up? Probably not. I was at one extreme of the spectrum. Currently, I'm at the other extreme (5 days in I'm on pace for $2/day on food), and ideally what I'd like to do is eventually strike a nice balance of eating cheap (but well) and splurging at more sensible intervals (as opposed to every single day) |

so cliff notes says you're a student that regularly spends $3k a month on just food. I don't care how much you like food and how much you admit to being spoiled, you still make me sick. Try doing some good with the money you didn't earn like see how many people you can feed with $3k a month while you do your stupid experiment of $2 a day. While you're at it, go fuck yourself.

You could also work on not lecturing people on car forums, as it appears you may not have an understanding of the real world. |

I have a V1 and used to run a Passport about 8 years ago. Not sure how passport matches up now, but I love my V1. It has not failed me once yet in about 2 years of ownership.

One of the better known radar detector reviewers is a person named 'veilguy.' I highly suggest you check out his blog here: http://veilguy.blogspot.com/ He also makes videos for youtube where he'll routinely (and simultaneously) test competing radar detectors on the market. I know he has a video floating around showing a Beltronics STI-R outperforming a V1 by a second or so. It's certainly not a scientifically rigorous test, but it's the best we've got. |

I had no idea it came from Houston. The first time I ever had it, some guy was driving around in a rape van and asked if I wanted a sample. So I got in the back of the van and 10 minutes later I had a free sample. It was great. |

I got in my car and the V1 didn't power up. I have it hooked at the sunroof so i poked around to see if maybe a wire came loose. Nothing. I resign to drive with out it. I was very surprised how naked i felt without it. Very surprised. Luckily, it was just the power wire going into the unit was only have in. The FL summers play hell on the suction cups that i use to hold it on the windscreen. I just ordered a few more suction cups from V1.... for the grand price of...... wait for it..... $1. Free shipping to boot! Get one. You won't regret it.
