Ice cube, then 7-up, then a piece of plain toast, in that order.

Do you mind if I ask what you did with the ice cube?

My German grandma would give us teaspoons of Jägermeister for everything from toothache to the flu.
When really sick add in Vicks rubdown from your neck to your stomach and a white undershirt at bedtime.
When I smell either it brings back memories, mostly good I think

Yep, I remember Vicks Vaporub. My mom would also give me an aspirin, and when I was really little she would crush the aspirin in a spoon with some sugar and water, like Mary Poppins: "a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down." lol

Yes, but you wear a uniform and drive a Porsche, so there's that!

Seriously, let us know when you have 5 that aren't gray and you then get promoted to newbie in this prestigious club of actual old guys.

I normally shave everything. It's the ex-physique competitor in me. I only see the 5 grays I do have when I let it grow.

Thanks for sharing. Usually I'd respond with "Photos or it didn't happen" but I think this time we should give you a pass and just believe you.

You know you are old when your first car did not even have a fuel gauge.

My first car was a 1961 VW bug and it had no gas gauge. Instead, it had a fuel reserve lever that you used to access 1.3 gallons of reserve fuel. So, you drive until the engine sputters, move the lever, and then start looking for a gas station.

You got a pretty good memory for an old dude. I think I'm a few years younger than you (67) and my first car was a '68 Bug, as I've mentioned before. I couldn't remember if it had a gas gauge or a synchronized first gear. I had to look them up. Yes and yes.

The '61 was a vast improvement over the '60. It was the first year of the synchronized 1st gear, an upgrade in horsepower from 36 to 40, and an upgrade from 6 to 12 volts. I loved my bug.

Yeah, I loved mine too. Honestly, it was my favorite car. Lots of fun in that car.

PS - think I've seen that pic before. Sadly, no pics of my old bug.

My 2017 GMC Sierra still has one but it does have an upgrade(?)...push to apply and push to release. No searching for a release handle somewhere under the dash, finding it and opening the hood instead.

I started with a German car and now have German cars. A lot of lesser cars in between!

I had a 1960 Beetle, canvas sunroof like the one in the picture. It was such a wide opening that it was possible to stand up and drive. I had the reserve tank too, only problem was I could never remember to flip the flap after I filled up.
