Yup.. Without that ugly transition (well it's cheaper not to make extra doors for M5), for me - exterior design would be almot perfect. Very good stance, modern tank.

Without first or second had experience metrics like weight, hp, 0-60, lap times etc. are the only means of comparison we consumers have to compare it to its competition. They’re certainly won’t dictate how enjoyable the thing is to drive but they drive home the same depressing reality that performance cars are just getting heavier and (most likely) less involving to drive.

Wow...Total yawn. Downgrade in all but looks. Thats where consumers interests are now, though. People just want lots of gingerbread. Its not a drivers car anymore as there is too much shit wrapped in. I can't see there being a race version of this as its a total pig. The M6 GT3 weighs 2800lbs.

As far as I'm concerned, BMW is going the wrong direction. I used to love them but I will be looking elsewhere. Perhaps a Porsche convert. /rant

Soon, most high performance vehicles will do 0-60 mph in 2.0-3.0 seconds range. The deciding factors will be the build quality, driving pleasure and driver engagement, suspension capability and versatility, safety, and looks.
Out of all criteria, this M5 will probably meet only safety and build quality. This time, I will try out the new Panamera instead.

Maybe Paris Accords?

No hate. I’m just not the target audience for ///M anymore. Not that anyone should or does care.

Cheers,

Well, on the plus side, it will still handle better than any of the "M" SUVs (breadvans).

So it isn't their greatest modern sin.

Yup. That's why I picked up 2 Audis. 2023 R8 and S8. The last V10 engine car, and a full size V8 daily driver that, despite being 209" long, somehow manages to weigh 400 lbs less than this M5.

I really like the split rear diffuser, mostly because it's different and aggressive. I like the side profile, and I like the bulky front bumper. And the headlights have even grown on me.

I do NOT like that red interior theme. It's just too loud, it's like it's just trying too hard to be expressive. I'm sure the seats, panels and interior will look better with more muted, luxurious colors.

Plus, I'm still not pleased with the tacked-on screen (they should be able to integrate this better into an all-new car), nor do I like the angular displays for the tach and speedo. PLEASE, BMW, if you're going to go all digital, can you at least give the option of digital round gauges, preferably classic-looking ones from M models past??? Just a digital option for something simple and clean.
