He must remember the Max factor and with an improving Sergio saying this was his best year yet and nearly getting him to second but for a few points also Sainz taking no prisoners that the Merc is back to square one and he would be working with a delirious after sell by date Wolf.

So far It's the best news of the 2022 season .

That ...And MAX as the 2022 World Champion again .

I knew that Horner wouldn't leave it like that , but actually It's too late because Mercedes got crucial multiple secret information regarding financial and technical Red Bull secrets .

RAO must walk ASAP because she is a Mercedes spy at the FIA .
I really hope they fine Mercedes too just like Red Bull was fined ,because Mercedes used the leaked information from RAO .

1- To take the Red Bull Team down with the budget cap
2- To make the Mercedes car faster

It must be questioned why Ben S took her on in the first place, did he not realise alarm bells were ringing with her working for Wolff before.

That's fine - As long as it's a token of camaraderie. Also when sitting together down at a bar you might say: "Man, what you're rattling now ?".

That's definitely a bold wishful thinking claim.

Lots of things can happen in motor sport: change of regulations, penalties, existing and future competitors giving him a good run for his money, improved engines, DNFs, race bans, injuries or - worst case scenario - a brilliant race career abruptly cut short in an accident (the dark list of F1 fatalities: see here).

Hamilton was fighting for his third WDC at the age of 30 (2015). Verstappen will be doing the same at the age of 25/26 (2023). So Verstappen still has a couple of years time to get his third WDC to possibly achieve 7xWDC someday like Schumacher and Hamilton. And likely he will be motivated to gather as much WDC titles as possible in a ruthlessly dominating way to tackle the "but his 2021 WDC gets an asterisk" comments.

Doesn't help when you add another team like Audi that will pour resources to put themselves up there with RB, Mercedes and Ferrari.

There's potential to do it but it'll be extremely difficult when you also factor in all the changes F1 will implement to achieve their "Net Zero" carbon initiative.

F1 race drivers eagerly care about records. Verstappen ain't no exception to that. Racing has completely dominated his life since over two decades now. And F1 is the elite of motor sport.

Throwback to 2015 (at that time only Schumacher was 7x WDC) - Dutch TV (see here @ 05:23 - 05:30):
  • Question: "What would you like to ask your future self in 2030 ?"
("Wat wil je vragen aan je toekomstige zelf in 2030 ?")
  • Verstappen: "Have I become more than 7 times world champion ?"
("Ben ik meer dan 7 keer wereldkampioen geworden ?")
Through experience Verstappen has matured since 2015. But the unstoppable hunger for winning races and titles seems to be hard-coded inside his mind. Ever since he started karting he was raised and trained by his dad Jos in a tough way with the 'take no prisoners' spirit: during his first three karting years he won 59 out of 60 championship races. Often competing with older kids. The only race he did not win was due to a mechanical failure. Zero presents for the other kids on track - ruthlessly going for the kill time and time again.

When competing on track he's a savage, fearless predator with a one-track mind for winning. It's likely an important part of the explanation why he might feel insulted when asked to give up a track position for a slow team mate - it's counter-intuitive, contrary to the "earn your racing stripes" / "always go for the kill" spirit he must have been reminded to a zillion times in the past.

F1 is a 'dog-eat-dog' world. On track, a true race driver is not necessarily a true gentleman. 'Kind' drivers normally never make it to F1 - ruthless competitors have them for lunch. As spectator, it's sometimes hard to understand the human side of it all, but many F1 race drivers have a different approach and mindset. And lots of money and pride/ego is involved.

But no matter whether you like or dislike Verstappen, the kid indisputably brilliantly masters racing skills.

Ayrton Senna in 1990 getting criticized (in a similar fashion as Verstappen) by Sir Jackie Stewart (3x WDC) about "often making contact with other drivers" and his "going for a gap" reply:

Hamilton in 2016 on how being a notorious "late braker" himself is an important part of becoming a champion and how "that's definitely one skill that you want to have":

Hamilton in 2016 on being competitive as F1 driver: "I'm as competitive as anyone I know. I'd like to think that I am the most competitive person I know in everything I do. But it's different when I was younger: when I was younger, there's no losing. You know, I would never think that losing was acceptable. But now, being older, I understand that losing is actually a part of it. Losing actually helped me to be the driver I am today. Those lows make the highs even higher.":

You can't compare Max with the norm, he has his own way of doing things and going with the usual flow is not his way, he is not impressed with ticks on a card just goes hell for leather to win and if there's a championship at the end it's a bonus.

Leclerc with a smile: "The laps where we dumm... well, yeah, I can say it now, when we dummied him [Perez] and made him think that we were going to pit opposite: he took it and went for the second stop."

Lap 33/58: Leclerc (P3) is trailing Perez (P2) by 1.3 seconds. Ferrari team radio message for Leclerc: "And box opposite Red Bull" + Ferrari pit crew rushes outside the pit garage with hard tires. Both Ferrari actions served to dummy Red Bull and Perez.

And, yup, Red Bull and Perez immediately took the bait: "Box, box" team order for Perez and on lap 34/58 Perez pitted for hard tires. As internally agreed before the race, Leclerc stayed out for a 1-stop strategy. The Ferrari team order was a successful bait.

The rest is history: because of the pit stop Perez dropped back to P6 behind Hamilton, Russell, Sainz, Leclerc and Verstappen. Perez lost time moving through traffic (Hamilton fighting him the hardest), he also lost time behind backmarkers Gasly and Albon (blue flags) and failed to timely catch Leclerc who secured P2 in the race and WDC.

Well done, Ferrari. This time around Red Bull and Perez got "Ferrari'd" at their expense.

I really think Audi is going to put a damper on a lot of successful drivers on other teams. I actually think it will be much harder for Max to maintain the supremacy that Lewis had. Mercedes developed that hybrid system so many years before everyone else and had such a long era to just completely dominate in.

I think Max will see a lot of success to 2026 but Ferrari will definitely make it difficult and at somepoint, Mercedes too. Alpine may as well if they find a driver better than Gasly/Ocon.

I agree Max will find it tougher from 2026, it depends what PU Audi comes up with and their team(s)? will be controlled by a no doubt stricter budget limit.
If Ferrari can break their duck of bad luck (no drivers championship since 2007) after more head rolling and shake up's there then it could come about for them. Without Rao now, Merc will have some dead cat bounces but somehow I can see them relegated to third best or worse.
