BMW M then shows it in yellow with black wheels amongst other classic BMW M cars and some say it’s a taxi.

If it flops here in the North American market and you could have ordered one you can be assured this market will not get another cool M car again, ever (I’m kidding sort of).

It’s a damn yellow M5 Touring that looks better than the sedan and it’s not another stupid SAV, so y’all should be lining up to order one.

I hope this thing sells well enough to encourage BMWAG and BMW NA to bring the next M3 Touring here because I want this…
It’ll sell well because still a lot of money floating around and people like to buy something different and controversial.

It is ugly as fk though. Super riced out and bloated. Insta crowd will still go crazy over it because they are the new generation thay bmw cares about. Not older gen like me.

Weight does matter. I have an x5 45e and it’s heavy and you notice it despite what people might want to believe.

When you have a depleted battery this car feels super heavy and slow so you have to keep a battery reserve if you want to have fun with it. Keep in mind car reviews will get the car with a charged battery which adds a lot of power but in the real world you won’t keep that charge all the time.

I had the exact same thought. I also saw smudges on the driver window. As a car detailing enthusiast this kind of stuff drives me nuts.

this has anti-M written all over it. Nothing to do with motorsport just the opposite of it.

if you really want one for some reason just lease the damn hippo on steroids. This will depreciate at an insane rate.

Ultimately here in the US, people are going to cross shop this with the X5M and the majority who have real money to spend will pick the SAV.

Same comparo with the M3 Touring and X3M, I’m thinking you’d at least have a larger slice of the pie pick the Wagon.

While I love the way it looks, the only way the M5 Touring sells in enough numbers to make a compelling business case — it’s going to need to canabalize the Sedan’s sales. Here’s to hoping!

I’m sorry. You guys are just haters. That’s a beautiful wagon (as we call them in the US) and they aren’t supposed to be track cars. We will see how it stacks up against RS6 (yes I know it weighs 600 lbs more). I have a feeling it will ass rape it.

I am on a waiting list for an M5 Touring allocation. It would be my fourth vehicle, and my second long roof ('23 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo 4S is my daily driver). Also have an SUV ('24 Cayenne S E Hybrid) and a truck ('23 Honda Ridgeline). Not sure why you think everyone "with money" would pick the SUV.

Current RS6 is outgoing model. Let's wait for new upcoming RS7 Avant which will be also PHEV.

Agreed. The whining is next level as it always is on new ///M model releases. I’d bet less than 1% of the people bemoaning the new M5 have yet to see it in person let alone sit in it. Looking forward to the full 180* sentiment posts 8-12 months from now when a bunch of these are on the streets and the “I have to admit it’s growing on me” comments are in full swing.

You’re exactly the buyer I’m describing. You already have a fast SUV and instead of buying the M5 sedan, you’re picking the touring. Good on you — hopefully there are enough of you out there.

Yes, on wait lists at two different dealers in two different (non neighborhing) states. There is a lot of interest in the M5 Touring.

Shocking. The production numbers must be low.

I have an F90 Comp and an F95 Comp. I'll likely be trading the F90 towards this. Would really like to see it with some aero parts to increase the aggressiveness.

Although I like the looks, I can understand the negativity.

There are so many elements of this car that will be detrimental to the drive that it is hard to muster any real excitement.
