It looks like these will be available later this year, I suspect they won't be cheap. You could probably pick up a vintage/used one for around $1000. They are quite collectable.

There are a lot of Seiko 5’s under $100 that you won’t see on Seiko’s website. I think those are some of the most fun. The Sarb and Alpinist for under $500 is nice. I think the true gem in the Seiko line is the Seiko 5’s. There are so many of them and u can buy it from resellers for $100

Finally got these in today! They feel solid, better than expected. Usually not a fan of Mesh, but I don't mind it at the moment. The only thing I think bothers me most is the crown looks very shiny almost like little diamonds on the sides.

What do you think?

Looks like you've been bitten by the watch bug, OP!

Seiko has a very rich history and is highly regarded in the world of horology. It's a true enthusiast's watch, and anyone that says they are junk have no clue. That would be like saying a 1er is junk bc it's a "cheap" BMW.

The Seiko 5 rebrand is pretty interesting, though not quite my style. I do have quite a few Seikos in the collection, ranging from the dressy SARB065 Cocktail Time, to the iconic Tuna, to the love it or hate it Gen2 Monster. My newest Seiko is the Save the Ocean Samurai which has been getting a lot of wrist time lately.

If you are into ultra affordable divers like the 5 line... Citizen was already mentioned. Also check out Orient, they have some nice styles with in-house movements. When you move up a step in price, Certina, Oris, and Tissot were all mentioned. You could look into micro brands like NTH and Steinhart, amazing quality for the price. The hobby can definitely get expensive real fast, and you will likely end up with too many watches and not enough wrist time! Your style will likely change over time too.

For straps, I recommend Clockwork Synergy and Holben's.

Good luck with the addiction!

That's a cool watch ,albeit I'm not a fan of the new logo of the 5 Series and mesh bracelet ,you have got a nice watch overall .
The bezel is fantastic too , better looking than some of higher priced models
Happy Days

I have a Omega Seamaster Professional and had it for just over thirty years and it keeps perfect time, expensive at the time, and expensive to maintain, but what the hell, it's only money

I also have a Seiko Solar Chronogragh bought two years ago, now I don't have the cost of battery replacement, again, it keeps perfect time and is a handsome watch

I’m fairly new into the watch game i got a Seiko about 6-8months ago after several recommendations on them from Matt Farah. I went with a solar chronograph ssc445. Just to get my foot in the door as an upgrade from cheaper watches without breaking the bank to find out if i’m really into it.
Lately ive been craving after a Seiko divers watch

Looks good! As for alternatives at that price point, I'd look at Autodromo (vintage motorsport), vintage King Seiko (from "zaratsu" design era), Junghans Max Bill, and Halios as a micro (it's a stretch, but it's good value).

I'm a big Seiko fan. I have three of them in rotation and still want to pick up a Grand Seiko. I think most watch guys and gals very much respect the brand even though they aren't expensive (on average).

Grand Seiko is awesome , I have got two of them and one of them has got a spring drive system but there's a catch. It's only serviceable in Japan as far I know .

I too recently got into watches here is my journey:

Hamilton Murf 38mm (Returned, love the movie but big numbers on dial, not my style)
Tissot Seastar 36mm (Returned, too small)
Timex Q GMT 38mm (Returned, now realising 38mm too small)
Tissot Seastar 40mm - Just perfect

From my research automatic watches need the time re set frequently as they lose a few seconds a day? A decent watch should keep time accurately or am i going crazy? A swiss quartz made the most sense for me.

I've been collecting watches for 30 years. Rolex, Hublot, Breitling, Cartier, JPG, etc....

What's funny to me, is I never wear those watches anymore since I went to a Samsung Galaxy watch. My recent Samsung watch was on sale for $99 at Walmart, and I got a nice $17 two tone band for it and I love it. I even get compliments on this watch.

I may sell off my collection, but I also want to pass it down to my son, but he's an Apple junkie and will probably never wear an analog watch.

Just my $0.05 (due to inflation).

Cheers.

I think Seikos are a great watch overall and punch well above their weight for what they cost. You could easily spend 4x more and still not necessarily get as nice a watch.

I have a number of Seiko watches in my collection. Some inexpensive and some higher priced versions. I love them. Their movements are nothing to sneeze at. I also have a few watches from boutique companies that use Seiko movements.
