Just heard from a local source that HEA cars are on stop sale for a steering shaft recall.....these might all be stuck at the VPC.

Not sure if anyone can confirm the above.

That's exactly what they are.

Take this as you will, but the manager of a dealership in Georgia (not Atlanta) who's a good friend of mine tells me they've only had two orders of the sedan to date.

Its going to vary drastically from region to region. Two local dealers by me had two different lists going. One dealer had 12+ wait list for the sedan and 4 for the Touring. The other dealer had the opposite where there were much more people on the Touring wait list.

As I mentioned in another thread my local dealer just got their first one in and it is unsold even though they're asking msrp for it. There's no world in which this is good for BMW where one of their iconic models is unwanted and available day one, in its launch spec no less.

If one of those alleged 12+ people want a car right now at sticker I'm happy to connect them with my dealer, although I have a feeling they were invented demand by your dealers who could see what's coming their way and had to lie.

Obviously some BMW fans on this forum and a few other people are in on it, but if initial demand is any indication which it often is, the car is going to be a dudd and is about to go into massive discounting to move it.

I hope no one out there is dumb enough to have paid over sticker for this thing.

Which dealer is that? Are you sure isn’t sold because no one is buying it because they keep it in the showroom to get people to come in?

He called me (and a whole bunch of other local customers) yesterday because it was the first day US dealers were allowed to sell it. I guarantee you I wasn't their first call as I have never purchased a car from this dealer, my BMW dealer is out of state. They just know that I like cars.

As of 3pm yesterday when I left the dealership, the car sat there unsold and anyone can have it at msrp. I could have driven it out if I wanted it. They even asked me to spread the word to my car friends to help them sell it.

I have no skin in this game, it makes no difference to me if the car sells well or doesn't, I'm just sharing one real world data point regarding actual demand, and also sharing the info with the peeps here in case someone wants it. (green launch spec)

It's in the Southeast. I don't want to publicly name the dealership because I'm not trying to expose them or anything. I'm just making the point in regards to demand which is the topic of the thread. If someone is really interested in the car they can PM me and I'm happy to put them in touch with them. Again, I'm not selling it, I'm just a local customer sharing what's happening and trying to dissuade people from paying over msrp for it.

I think totally opposite, you might actually help someone get one sooner and not wait and been taken for a ride to pay over MSRP. I reached out to couple local dealers in NorCal. I am mainly interested in test-drive the platform first. One of them came back to with ~$15K over MSRP, I told them to remove me from their list and not bother me. I am not paying over MSRP for BMW but that is me.

My rep knew I was interested a couple weeks ago and called me on Friday when their first one arrived. I was there early Saturday morning and was the first customer to test drive it. My salesman knew it wasn’t the spec I wanted and said they were holding the car from being sold to bring people into the dealership. How long that lasts I don’t know.

I’m negotiating a trade for my X6 with them now and if I get the deal I want I’ll place an order. The car was black on black and looked and drove great. No idea how many allocations would be ahead of me but I’m not in a hurry. If the deal doesn’t pan out I’ll wait for a while and see what happens with demand, incentives, etc.
