It was a bad attempt at sarcasm, I'm damn near 30 years old and with a long-term GF. I don't have problems with women. That said I was never really one for attempting to date randoms. Nearly every girl I've dated was somehow socially connected, maybe 2-3 exceptions. I always found it's better to focus on people who you know share interests/personalities than take random shots in the dark with girls you meet out on the town. That's just me though.

Always make sure the recipient knows who you are, if she's hot, you probably weren't the only one interested in her that day, so if I were a man, I'd go in the lines of giving her the impression you remember a detail of her. Nothing much, but we women eat up this shit so bad.

You're doing it wrong. Be a man, and be assertive, text them with a goal and conversation in mind. Time and not looking desperate is one thing, another is to actually be interesting.
