I tend to stay away from anything made by nissan. I owned a few and the motor went bad and poor customer service. Almost everyone I knew with a 350z and G35 had motor problems within a year of owning their cars. The motor starts to tick as if there is a valve problem or loose timing chain. I had a 2007 Altima that had the same problem. Got rid of it after 6 months. It was a POS. On the plus side I did like the keyless entry. Other than that I would never buy another nissan made product.

never heard of such problems. the only problem is revved up motor would burn gas, and they would switch the motor for you without any hassle. and in fact Infiniti service was clearly > BMW's. at least you get a new loaner anywhere you go, and not have to go to your dealer and wait for a month to get one.

i've had one and was pretty reliable
so maybe i got luck

Never heard of that either I have owned 3 nissans previously to owning my new e92 coupe I love nissan's the motors are excellent!!! I was either going to get the e92 or the G37 I opted for the euro look for once in my life and I love it but still miss the jdm counterpart we'll that's my story.

Trick,

I was thinking about getting a G37S 6MT, but 2 hours after the (very brief) testdrive, my left hip started to ache like hell (I am 37). I guess, that the driving position was just not ideal for me.

Now for me to lease a new 335i coupe it is going to run me somewhere in the mid 700 range on a monthly payment if I do zero down. I was paying 647.55 after having put down my taxes, bank fee, first payment, and security deposit which came to $4200.
I only had my car for 14 months and I am not about to put down another 4200 on a new car again.
I have been toying with the notion of leasing a G37S. Only because it is alot of value for the money, they lease great I can get into a fully loaded G37S with prem, sport, tech, rear spoiler etc with an MSRP of 43k for Zero out of pocket $519 a month.

I loved my e92 but a mid to high 7 payment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me when I can get a relatively comparable car for about $250 less. Now I will say that if I compare the cars performance, looks, interior and exterior the e92 335i wins in every category. Also I have some parts to customize a 335i (vorsteiner decklid, OEM front lip, JB2 etc.) but the difference in price has really got me second guessing jumping into another 335 coupe.

I know you guys are gonna flame, and I am not saying I am considering the G because I think it is a better car, I am saying that it is a great value for the money...and that has got me strongly considering it.

I'll prolly end up with another e92 335i cuz I don't think I will be happy with a G..I really am confused as to what I should do. I am going to test drive a G37S 6MT today...from there decide.

Also another negative for the G is I went onto a G forum just looking around and most of the guys seem like a bunch of terds lol...JDM'ing the cars out and putting silly Assante wheels etc. So that is a huge negative. I really have enjoyed going to BMW meets and meeting everyone and enjoying the tasteful mods that we all have done...but from a value standpoint I am having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that if aI don't pont up some cash again on the downpayment I am going to have a rediculous payment.
Take over a lease. Seems like there is guy trying to dump his 335i. The G37 is a good looking ride but not a BMW. This is a hard decision but in the end I decided to pay out the ass for my BMW. You should have bought Gap Insurance.

I'd seriously consider a G37S if money was even slightly an issue. It's a nice car. Sexy in black or that dark silver.

+1 on assuming a lease, check it out.

I drove the G37S and while it is a very nice car it did not feel as refined or seem as fast as the 335. Also no cheap-easy 40hp upgrades. It also seemed heavier, is that the case?

But Nissan products are generally very reliable, more so in my opinion then BMWs. I have had three of them and sold them because I eventually got tired of them.

But what about the lease prices advertised on the BMW Website? They advertise the E92 335i at $559. Even a stripped 335i is an awsome car IMO.

Think about it this way...the $$ you would have to spend on the G37 to upgrade the performance is probably 10x's the cost of an equivalent upgrade to the Twin Turbo. That was a huge part of my decision. If you don't see yourself wanting to upgrade the performance later, you would be fine with the G i'm guessing. Personally, I could not buy a Nissan after owning this car.

I dunno about all these "G37's are slow and handle like crap" comments I'm seeing around here. I just picked mine up yesterday and spent all day driving it around with a huge ass grin on my face. It is a seriously good ride (with exception to the 335i, the absolute BEST car you can get south of $50k) and it is by no means slow. Btw, the exhaust note alone is worth it IMO......

Brad @ EAS and lvlolvlo just test drove it today. Brad fell in love, the other guy hated it hahahah

congrats on your G man, it's definitely a nice car. i have nothing against it except the extra weight. Im sure it's fun tho, even with the extra lbs.

If im to buy a G again, i'd wait a couple years tho until they rev up the new engine

Why not rent the car for a week or so and see if it really is the same.

Report back with your findings.

The money spent there might save you years of regret.

I just don't know if I can deal with driving a g37s for 3 years. I don't really love the car..just considering it from a value standpoint...but to lease a new 335i right now with zero down is just retarded...

But I have also been strongly considering taking over someone elses lease (mantis and a few others I have been looking at) still waiting for my asshole insurance company to pay off my wreck.
I love the G37 personally, but if you are already saying you don't love the car, but you will settle for it, then you are setting youself up for 3 years of unhappiness. why not look into swapalease there were a few 335 couples below $600 when I did a quick search

Exactly.
So far most people that tested it (including magazines) give handling edge to G37.
Yep, it is a little slower than the 335...
