Mine look like this... maybe slightly darker, depending on how long I've gone without a shine. My brother asked me not to wear them to his wedding after the attention they received at a prior family event.

Seminole is correct on the pants, UNLESS you have a thicker thighs or hips.
When those people like me wears pants like it is suppose to be worn, I will look like Urkel bottom, when I sit down. Pants will look too short when I sit.

Therefore, you should make it about ~1-1.25 inch longer , if that is the case.

I'm not the most up-and-up guy when it comes to attire, but even I see some things that can be fixed.

For the tie... There's something off about the pattern; get something red or silver like others are saying, and put it all the way up to your neck instead of leaving it dangling. Also, I think a 4-in-hand looks weird (but since the knot isn't fully closed in your pic I can't tell), not to mention that kind of casual knot doesn't go well with a formal setting. Consider putting it in a Full Windsor, but make sure you have it dimple... I can tell that you had it partially down, but the tie wasn't properly draped across the knot before tightening it.

Also, please don't tuck the tie in like one of CANGRKE70's posts; that just looks like you were getting dressed half asleep IMO (unless it's some "in" thing I'm unaware of), but the most ideal placement is just barely touching the belt line.

Slacks... Even though you said you don't want to tailor it, at the very least fix the length of it; it's probably $10 at the tailoring shop at the most, but I understand that the rest of the suit may fit differently, but given your situation I probably would've rented. But if you decide to keep that suit, you can always have it altered once you reach your ideal weight. Believe me, I have knocked down 20 lbs and have 70 more to go (but still have to dress formal at least twice a month), so I understand your situation perfectly.

Everything else: I can't readily tell unless I see it in person, and anybody else at the event may be none the wiser unless they make it a point to scope you out.

You nailed it . Amen !
Suit looks good , but only where the pants reach the shoes that looks really wrong and cheap .
So OP needs another pants for sure .

I think your jacket is just fine. This trend of super slim fitting jackets is only for guys with a 28-inch waist (and whatever corresponding jacket size that would translate to). You're gonna want some room to move.

The pants, as everyone said, are too long. Personally, I like my pants to break on the shoe, not hover above them, so I disagree with the picture posted. If you cut them that short, when you sit, they'll ride all the way up to your calf. Shorten the pants so that there is one crease on the shoe, not multiple.

The shirt/tie is the worst offender but maybe you just put that on to try the suit. Looks like you have plenty of room to tie that top button, and the tie is too wide.

I agree on getting brown shoes, if you can. And add a little color to your tie or socks.

I've seen people do it, not me. I just used that picture to explain colour is good.

Suit funnies....

Am I the only guy who likes people wearing suits funny?
It will bring lots of ROFL and laughter to the office. It makes my day.
(only few days out of a year)

I don't wear suit funny, but I try to wear the ties funny (if i can get away with it). I think I still have Looney Toons ties from highschool days stashed somewhere.

jacket: first rule of thumb is are you comfortable? can you move your arms freely, is there any tightness? if not, move a size up and get altered in.

pants: i prefer none to med break, but regardless you def need the pants hemmed.

shirt: for a navy suit, nothing wrong with a classic white shirt but color doesn't hurt either (purple + navy suit go very well for example). button the top button, is there tightness in the neck? you should be able to stick 2-3 fingers freely between collar and neck.

tie: for your body type go for a slim tie. if you wear a white shirt, go for a brighter tie (purple or black for contrast). if you go with a brighter shirt get a tie that matches your suit color for contrast.

pocket square: i personally only use this when i don't wear a tie (having a tie and a pocket square looks overkill to me)

belts and shoe: for navy suit i would stick with casual black shoes and belt. if you want a bit more pop you can go with brown shoes but make sure you have a matching colored belt to go with.

I can't stand a suit worn badly. I'm not a fan of them in any case or event, but if worm badly, I'll never forget the offender.

Off the top of my he's I can only list seen my spouse wearing one six times, if I remember correctly, I told him not to put one on for our paper ceremony.

Casual is so much harder to pull through right. I prefer that.

That part, I would agree. body hair sticking out of swimsuit/bikini would be a deal killer.

Lol. Yeah, imagine that...

Sil is killing me. Also yesterday a very hairy lady spoke to me in the dog park, and since that, I can't apparently hold any food near me. I'm telling you, its like being pregnant all over again.

I think it looks ok. If you want a tie, yo need to tighten that one more. Or else just go without a tie.

Me i like my pants fitted and i agree about adding a little splash of color.
This was my Easter outfit.

If you want a very nicely fitted, albeit probably a bit tighter than you're looking for, try Zara. They have pants and jacket separates (pants are $60-$80 and the matching jacket is usually $100). Very cheap. The quality isn't great, but definitely better than you'd expect to get out of a $170 suit. The fit, however, is definitely a wow factor. I bought one of these in the spur of the moment for an on the spot interview and have definitely gotten more compliments than any of my other suits, as its fit is so on point. Check out what they got. Good luck, OP.

Sport jacket at H&M.
Some companies will let it slide at 100+F temp.

I can't stand shirts with that button on the collar - not sharp at all.

You asked, so I'm going to give you an honest opinion.

I'm a classic, finance guy who has worn a lot of suits.

Overall, the suit is a train wreck.

The jacket is ill-fitted and too short in my opinion. It should be closer to your fingertips if you curl your fingers upward slightly.

The shoes are awful.

The pants are way too long.

The tie looks terrible.

Overall, the suit looks extremely cheap and low quality. You don't have to spend $2.5k like I did for a custom suit, but my guess is your suit is well under $500. I think you need to up your game.

If you just need it for one wear, just rent it and come back to suits when you can afford to invest in a good one.

No suit will look good off the rack...must be tailored.

I would start over and go somewhere they know what they're doing for help.
