I have one pint and then done for the night and switch over to diet coke. I've gone through the checkpoints many times, tell the officer I had 1 pint at the beginning of the night and I always get the breathalyzer, which I pass with flying colours.
I usually end up leaving with a cheap ice scraper or a McDonald's free ice cream cone coupon.

Not going to lie, I used to be pretty bad with this. Then I realized I didn't want to go back in time and ruin everything all over again.
A trip home from downtown with Uber is like $15, so that's been pretty awesome. |

Yup in Toronto...you usually have to ask for them as they are pretty tight about giving them out.

Visiting the morgue may or may not shock a DUI offender into changing their ways. I say in addition to the morgue visit, these offenders also have to face family members whose lives have been devastated by the selfish callous act of an individual, and possibly to do a ride along with either a police officer or EMS unit.
I've dealt with drunks both scooping them up off the sidewalk, at parties, or after they've crashed while under the influence. I remember one belligerent DUI ahole who gave us a hard time after extricating her out of her car. Fortunately, it was just her that was involved in the crash. She was being a royal pain the entire time we were treating her. The medic decided to give some pay back by using a large bore catheter to start her IV. The thing looked like a whale harpoon. That shut her up. One night I had a death in the family and drove to work to let them know I was going to be taking bereavement leave for a few days. On the way back home, some jerk almost hit me flying down the road. A couple of blocks later, I see a cop cruiser pulled over with the cop standing by the same car which hit a utility pole. I was deciding if I should stop and see if could render any help. I stopped and approached the cop. He told me to go away until I mentioned to him I was an EMT. He then said he was about to stop the guy when he crashed. I examined the driver and he was obviously drunk. I can smell the alcohol in his breath. The guy was knocked out cold and was suffering from some head trauma as evidenced by the unequal pupil constriction in both eyes. The guy in his Toyota Corolla hit the poll so hard, the radio in the center dash was pushed up next to the top of the steering wheel. Just imagine what would have happened if he hit a person or another car. |

Some people can't even take Uber when drunk much less drive. (Assume most already saw this on the news today):

My life and family wealthness is much more important to me than DUI and speeding. When I go driving home at night I'm more concern about cars around me than myself. You may be sober but there are a bunch of drivers out there that will DUI and odds are that a high percentage of those will cause an accident.
See Dick drink See Dick drive Don't be a Dick!!! |

Where I live, pretty much everyone who goes out to bars, clubs, etc drives over the limit on a regular basis. There are so many drunks on the roads here at night it's ridiculous. The reality is, most of them don't end up dead or even with a DUI, although fender benders and minor mishaps seem pretty common. Not worth it. Well, in a world where everyone goes apeshit over 130 deaths due to some bad shit, when many, many more preventable deaths happen every. single. day, what do you expect? People aren't capable of estimating risk or understanding statistics, and those that do and like their booze, probably drink and drive anyway.
I've driven over the limit before, but not in years, and since I started riding motorcycles (don't have one currently) I've made a firm point of never drinking if I'm going to ride or drive. I almost never drink alcohol anyway, so it's not very hard. |

I really don't drink that much anymore, a couple of wines with dinner would be the limit. I have been very lucky though, my wife has never drunk in her life so I have always had someone to drive.
