There's obviously the vette tax and I'm not saying it's "cheap" per say but it's far cheaper than dealing with the german car. Hell most c5 and up vettes will go to 100k with no issues/little work. The same can't be said for german cars.

Hell the sensor lights alone on a german car can cost a pretty penny over the lifetime of a car.

Engine is extremely reliable but the rest of the car is... British. I owned mine for about two years and one of the headlights popped out, the windows would only go up about 90% of the way (doesn't it rain a lot in the UK?), and the boot lid would pop open randomly. The shape on that car is so beautiful and it is definitely fast, especially compared to cars like a g37 or isf.

To 100k? LOL Try well over 200K if maintained properly.

Vettes are cheap to fix, not mod. There is a difference. However, can be cheap to mod if you wait for deals on used parts.

This may come as a shock, but many people don't holeshot at every traffic light. I've had all kinds of cars - some quick, some slow - and the most fun I've had is in a VW GTI, which did 0-60 in a little over 7 seconds (the slowest car I've owned). There's more to life than speed.

That said, the new Mustangs, Challengers, and the C6 Z06 are gorgeous cars that will likely age well (important since he plans to keep it). I know looks are subjective, but the Camaro doesn't look all that great in comparison. The aforementioned cars are also fast enough to get you thrown in cuffs in an instant. Beasts come in many shapes and sizes...

It's only a little over 200bhp.
The R is a lot faster but I reckon the GTI has more character.

Well the e92 328i takes about six seconds, makes 220hp. When driving the GTI it feels a bit quicker, and being lighter and smaller I'd expect it's 0-60 to be around the same.

Yeah VW claimed a 7.2sec 0-60 on the 2009. I agree that it feels much faster but turbocharged cars always give that illusion.
