I used to salivate over the V CTS wagons at the dealership I had my Infiniti G35 worked at (Infiniti & Caddy dealer at same location in Plano TX). But my need for a wagon has now passed........Now I just want a Ford GT or Aston Martin Vantage.

The MY2016 S212 E63 Estate is still listed on mbusa.com, but I don't know if it is still possible to order one. Reportedly, Mercedes does plan to offer the S213 in both E400 and E63 form in the US, but that won't be available until next year for MY2018. |

I'm a big fan of wagons but they are a tough sell here. Not sure why because the driving dynamics of most reasonable priced SUVs are atrocious relative to a wagon or they don't actually have that much usable space as you would think. Don't care for the look of a lot of SUVs either...they either try too hard to look "tough" or they are what I call the effeminate egg shape.

X1 E84 which is based on E91 wagon platform
so if you want E91 335i you should get X1 3.5 E84

I would dream about a F31 340xi manual M-PPK but Bmw is telling me I should get a X3 instead... At least Mercedes have enough balls to try the performance wagon in here so does Volvo. One of the problem we have is the North American production of X-cars make them more profitable for Bmw compared with Touring. That said if Bmw don't bring either the G21 or the G31 in Canada they will lose me as a customer. Getting tired of that suv hype BS.

?We know from experience ... that there is an enduring and stable segment of customers that want a luxury wagon and nothing else,? says Chris Goczan, national product manager for Mercedes-Benz Canada." At least Mercedes know it. |

It's a bit of a myth that SUV are jacked up wagons, they are very distinct vehicles.
All things being equal, an SUV will have a bit more back seat room whilst the wagon will have a larger floor plan in the boot (trunk). I drive both vehicles, an X3 and a Saab wagon, the X3 suffers from a very small boot load space compared to even small wagons, it's inherent in the design. Hyundai were quite clever to make the Sante Fe,, it's roughly X3 sized, but they offer a variant called XL that is the same size everywhere except a longer trunk and you really notice the extra space. |

Personally I think National Lampoon's Vacation spelled the end of the wagon in the US. There is still an almost unconscious reaction in an American buyer when they hear "Station Wagon" to picture that ginormous POS.

There are four very simple-to-understand reasons why SUVs dominate in the U.S. In order of importance:
1). Most are classified as light trucks, which matters when domestic carmakers are trying to meet government-mandated emissions standards. Europe already had stricter emissions standards than the U.S. in place by the time the SUV craze hit. Europeans had little interest in them partially because of this. 2). SUVs ride higher, which is a selling point for many -- particularly those already used to truck-level ride height. Trucks, as we all know, sell really, really well in the U.S. as personal vehicles for a myriad of reasons. The SUV craze is an extension of this cultural norm here. Wagons? Not so much. 3). SUVs are true crossovers in that they can be utilized as several types of vehicle -- wagon, off-roader, van, people mover -- depending on design and options. One vehicle to serve the purposes of four? Check. Wagons can't really do that -- not at the same level. 4). The U.S. invented the original SUV: the Jeep of World War II, which -- and this is important -- has never been out of production. The concept's simply been built upon over the years, both by U.S. automakers (Cherokees, International Scout, Chevy Suburban, Hummer, etc.) and foreign ones (Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover, etc.). We all know Americans like to stick with what they created. One look at our team-sports culture tells you that.
